My 6000 mile 530e decided to throw a CEL yesterday. I brought it into the dealer today. Hopefully it's nothing major, here is a picture of the error from my iDrive screen. Doesn't say anything helpful much, I'm sure it's just generic message.

None yet, I assume they won't even get to it for a day or two. Meanwhile I get to enjoy driving a loaner car, which is the 530i variant. Relative to the 530e, it feels agile and willing to be tossed around. That battery out back really does make a big difference.

- Is your gas cap tightened?
-possibly module malfunction for adaptive grills ( mine had that at 5K miles )- replaced under warranty of course

It's been about 6 weeks since I put gas in the car, and I've already had my active grilles replaced under warranty. I wonder if it's due to not replacing the gas regularly enough?

Just a quick update, I'll be getting the car back tomorrow. From the sound of the message, this appears to be software glitch and they reprogrammed the car. Thats all I know, I'll be sure to get a more detailed explanation tomorrow.

Still haven't been able to pick up my car. I found out that they had to replace the wastegate module, but are not able to reprogram the car to accept it. My SA explained to me that only BMW corporate can code it in this case.

I'm getting the car back tomorrow. The SA said that they had a really hard time with the software. It required BMW corporate to connect to the car via satellite. Not sure to what extent the software has been changed, but the SA claimed that the car now has the latest software on it as well as a new wastegate module. I think the car will drive better now since it was able to modulate the boost again.

Picked up the car today, seems to drive the same as before. I didn't really have any complaints on that front, so this is good news. They had to reprogram my car which was nice since I finally got some map updates that I never received before.

Thanks for keeping us posted. I hope everything will work as it should going forward. I know how frustrating it is when you buy a new car in order to not have issues - and then have issues.

I'm over it, as long as BMW is paying to fix it. I got to put on a bunch of miles on the loaner in the meantime.

October 2017, I have roughly 6500 miles on it if that helps.
