Diamond button on key

I know I should probably RTFM but does anyone know what this button does on the remote, I've pressed it but it doesn't appear to do anything.

Press and hold and it flashes the lights - for finding the car in a carpark or just when its dark.?!

As Jim Bow says, it brings the lights on.

Funnily enough, I have just used this feature minutes ago along with remote parking - was parked too close to the garage door to open, so rolled the car back a bit and when I went into the garage I needed a bit of light. Technology eh!

Excellent, just went and tried it out. Also it seems that a short press turns off comfort access which is nice and means I don't have to worry about those guys that have the range extenders nicking the car.

I just tried that on mine - didn't turn off my CA. Tried around 5 times in succession, short press, medium press, long press; nothing

On a side note, I keep my key in one of these at night (also the spare keys too):

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Blocks the signal completely so no range extender will work. Even when right next to the car the car will not open if the key is one of these.

Any heavy metal box (microwave, safe, etc) will work but this is just convenient.

My wife does the same, even though she doesn't have CA on her X3, simply because if they smash the window and physically get into the car, a range extender will then work for the keyless go.

Odd, just went and tried it again, definitely turns CA off on mine. I've also got those pouches and the spare keys sit in them. I did have one for the display key but now the diamond key turns CA off I'll use that instead.

Another revelation of the diamond button this morning is that a medium press opens the top of the tailgate.

The button that keeps on giving!

That would be a touring only feature so not one I can try.

When I collected my car in mid-Oct, the sales rep doing the handover did mention that the diamond button could be programmed; and the base setting was flashing the lights.

I've never been able to find out how to do this anywhere, though.... and yes, I did search the manual! So any hints would be appreciated!

Similarly to change the clock in the main display from digital to an analogue dial (as seen on some of the forum members' posts). In this case, the instructions are there, but the option isn't in the menu in my car... :

Must admit I wondered about the clock and assumed it was down to software levels or regional variations. Early cars in the review seemed to have analogue but most (but not all) later ones seem to be digital.

Also curious how you program diamond symbol perhaps a dealer program?

If you look at the thread 'My new G30 Bluestone - UK' under the photos section by UKF30, you will see he got his car in late December 2017. And has the analogue clock...

Mine was manufactured in November and I have the clock option (analog or digital). But I still would like to know how to program the diamond button.

So the analogue clock came back for November? I had thought only the early 2017 cars had it and its been gone ever since.

I need to get my dealer to sort mine then. Clearly a glitch in the middle cars that they resolved later. September build - no analogue clock.

The setting for the analog clock is under displays/instrument panel. At the bottom. It gives me a choice of analog or digital.

By the way, my remote has replaced the diamond button with a panic button. I don't know if that affects the ability to reprogram that button.

Thats how it was on the car I test drove too (a March produced car), but somewhere along the line the entire option disappeared and some cars (like mine) only have the digital clock with no option in the menu.

One guy had a software update done by the dealer and it appeared. I saw another thread and a guy had a software update and it disappeared! : Made me think even the dealers don't know what they are doing sometimes.
