no alarm: can car still beep and red light still flash?

Can you guys please clarify something for me. I don't have the alarm but can my dealer still program my car so that when locking with the remote, my car makes an audible "beep" confirmation? And when the doors are locked, can the red light under the rear-view mirror flash? I asked my dealer and they said they can't program this. But I thought I read about these two features before. Are they feeding me BS?

If you check bimmerfest.com, there really aren't any success stories posted yet. I don't think anyone has successfully had it done.

I'm just trying to figure what exactly the alarm offers in terms of sensors and protection (i.e. doors and hood sensor, window breakage, shock sensor, etc.) Are there window stickers that come with the alarm? Surely someone out there has an alarm on their new E90. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have a post-Sept car and after reading the thread, it seems post-Sept cars should have this function?

The car come with a GPS transceiver, like LoJack, installed (at least in premium package). I was surprised when the BMW told my car location over the phone as I was calling them to initialize the BMW assist service.

BMW Assist does this. It only functions when the car is turned on (Ignition on). If they dont start the car, there is no way to track it.

With lojack:
If they steal the car, disconnect battery, and set it into a steel container for 3 days, the backup batt is dead. Roll the car out and take apart at will.

if you don't have an alarm you don't have a siren to make an audible noise when you lock/unlock

BMW doesn't use the horn for the noisemaker

Thanks, its been 4 years and somewhere in the 15+ grand range. But it was 4 years filled of joys and heart aches. Well worth it.

Since so many other cars offer the ability to turn on the clown nose without an Alarm, I have a feeling BMW will soon release a software upgrade that'll turn on the clown nose without an acutal alarm.. I mean... if the X3 has it... why doesn't the e90 have it? Them BMW crack addicts....
