Comfort Access, boot lid closing?

Hi, I'm in the process of getting a 2018 520iSE fitted with Comfort Access. I can release the boot lid from inside the car with the switch, from the key fob and using handle on the not lid itself. But.... Should the boot lid close automatically using the switch inside the car, the key fob or the button on the underside of the boot lid with the pad lock image?
Thanks

I believe that has to be coded.

I have a 2017 530i with Comfort Access.

I can open my car using all of the methods you mention (button inside car, key fob and button on bootlid above number plate) and can also 'swing my foot' under the rear bumper to both open AND close the boot/trunk.

To lock I have to keep on pressing the key fob or the internal button. The button on the bootlid itself just needs to be pressed again.

For the 'hands free'/leg swinging function, I had to 'calibrate' how close/far to stand from the car when I swung my leg (not too close, about a foot away; and now it works every time).

Great when your hands are carrying boxes of beer!

Mine only opens. It does not close by itself and it cannot be codded. I have comfort access and soft close doors as well. I do not have the physical mechanism to close the trunk installed thanks to COVID shortages.

I really hoped to have it coded too.

Mine closes from either a push on the FOB or pushing down on the inside button on the door for a second or two. I believe I coded this with Bimmer code. Pretty easy. I think you can also eliminate the delay to close after holding either button for a second or two. I did not delete the delay.

You can code the closing of the lid with the button on the door with BimmerCode. The car needs to be equipped with optional electronic lid switch.

pull and hold the trunk release to close the trunk from inside the car.

the power trunk opening and closing uses the same motorized mechanism; as long as it opens it closes.

however, coding needs to be done if you want to close the trunk from inside the car without the long hold or using the keyfob.

i just bought the bimmercode app and the recommended odb2 bluetooth and coded myself.

Is there a way you do screenshot of bimmercode menu for that? Mine has kick function to open, but no button on the trunk to close, i'm under impression i dont have power tailgate. It feels like a spring action, not a slow electric motor opening the trunk.

If you don't have the buttons to close the trunk and the lock button next to it, you don't have any motors, so this ain't gonna happen for you. You must not have comfort access which I believe this comes with. It's rare a G30 doesn't have it.

I only have lock button on the trunk, but no close button. I have sensors on 4 doors and kick function. Is that not comfort access?

I'm not sure then how the options work. If you have door latches then sense your FOB and no self close truck then maybe it's not part of the package.

The F30 3 series I had with comfort access didn't have the motorized trunk. Is it possible some G30s got that configuration, too? There are so many differences in how these cars are configured by region.

Correction - been going through some old paperwork (getting ready to PX my 530i) and found my original order form.

I see that I specified a power bootlid IN ADDITION to Comfort Access. This was back in 2017 in the UK.

So there is a chance you don't have this feature in your car.

Search these forums for websites where you can enter your cars VIN and they then show you the build spec of your car.

I have the power open/close trunk on my 2018 530e. I just checked the printout of my package and it showed the "power tailgate" being part of the MSport Package 2 (ZM4). A remote trunk release is shown as part of the standard features.

This is what's going on with me. I have comfort access, but I guess the trunk is another option called Power Trunk. So I just have a popper. I can hear it click when I try to hold the button on the drivers door. Looks like it's retrofit time.

Sometimes BMW just doesn't make sense. I'm not even sure why this is even an option, especially a stand alone. This should be standard in my opinion. Any car worth its salt these days has a power trunk lid or hatch.

if you don't have the trunk close button next to the lock button, then you might not have the power trunk.

the menu for bimmercode is right in the main menu once you read the car under tailgate functions.

Correct, I think he has been enlightened on that between post #1 and #18.

You can pull and hold the trunk button or on the key fob as long as you want on my car, and it still will not close. It opens in all the ways described above, but it only closes if you press the close button on the trunk lid itself.

How does the kick function work for you? It just opens it fully, but kicking again won’t close it? What does the lock button do for you?

My trunk can open and close from the kick function, but I also have two buttons in the trunk. For me, the lock button closes the trunk and locks the car. The other button closes it, but won’t lock it. Both are motorized.

That is my setup as well although I have never tried using the kick to close the lid.
