Doesn't it seem like there is a trim level missing here? The 45e trim would fit perfectly to bridge the gap between 40i and M50i and would compete with the E53 AMG
545e May come at the end of the year.

It’s about 20 years late to the party, but finally remote start is available on the 5 series this alone makes me want to hold out and custom order a new 5er vs picking a pre-LCI out of current dealer inventory.

Not even close. Horrible comparison.

Meanwhile, I wish BMW US would update the configurator to the 2021 5 Series. It looks like some other Countries have.
Like I said. I don't relate. If I just wanted a boring comfy car/appliance as a daily driver why spend that much money.
Bad comparison.

Go drive a Camcord and then a G30. Then we'll talk.
I had a 530i as a loaner once. Yea super boring.

What made you expect this? BMW has never changed the interior design drastically in a facelift. Plus there have been many spy shots of the interior showing that there is not much of a change.

I'd wait for the sequel to the G20. The next 5 will likely be a radical redesign compared to the E60 derivative design we've had since the E39 was retired

Alas, while I have no doubt the interior quality is better than Mercedes, the design is so boring. Not a single risk being taken, and I bet they've done nothing to expand the interior ambient lighting palate either.

All in all, a very conservative and dull update.

I agree the 5-series is a snooze-fest but it's still very luxurious, well built, very safe, and has great tech. In comparison cars like the Camry are engineered to a completely different standard for a different market. Camrys have lackluster design, sloppy FWD handling, paper thin doors, plastic interiors, etc.

The 5er still handles reasonably well, but feels like a boat in the process and does not engage the driver. This is exactly what most people want unfortunately.

My point is that this conversation will be had again in 3 years, with people saying how that current model is hideous, and how the LCI G30 was such a nice looking car...

Such is evolution...
This kind of strange argumenting BMW recently also used when they told that the monster kidneys are reflecting their class leading innovation skills. People complaining now will be converts after a while.

Total crap of a company that has lost its "sense of purpose". The bangle butt E65 7 series still looks hideous after so many years and bad design is not at all a proof of your innovative capabilities. It's just bad design.

On the other hand, doing a LCI on your star product, without upgrading the engines to current standards is laughing with your customers. That's arrogance and yes, this will cost them again a few thousand customers.

Interior really does not get many new features/options. Surprised the B&W sound system is only an option in 550 now.

Really think BMW is making a mistake getting rid of Angel Eyes. Such a distinctive feature and now the headlights look like every other car. Car still looks nice though.

Wonder what BMW will do on incentives if ordering now, since you have not been able to order a 2020 for a while.
The packages are definitely pretty oddly configured. I'd imagine they'll tweak them as time goes on?

They also dropped B&W sound as an upgrade except for the M550i and added H&K to a package now.

The good news is nothing really here that makes me annoyed that I didn't holdout for the LCI. The look isn't something I'm excited about and the feature changes are pretty much already on my car. And them adding a price hike to the PHEV without a fuel tank increase or battery increase is a shame.

All the features of the G20 but the G20 looks better and seems to have more options IMO and a lot cheaper.

When they release a new model and not a facelift it will be interesting to see but for now I will stick to my G20.

I really really like the front. The back is blah like it was before. Oh yeah, and the interior is still boring as hell as always.

That's all?

The choice of paint and interior is horrible on the G2x platform.

Btw... I don't think the 3 Series has more options as the 5 Series to pick.

Not sure if this is because it's a US spec but no laser lights from what I can see as an option?
