Battery disconnect
Do I need to disconnect the battery when installing an aftermarket amp (Match UP7 BMW)? If so, will my settings be lost when I reconnect?

Yes, you should always disconnect the battery when installing a new amp - especially if you're running the positive cable to the terminal like you should.

As the Match Up is Plug and Play and is replacing the BMW Hifi Amp it should be ok to not disconnect the battery.

Thanks for those replies. On the subject of the Match Up7 amp, where should the gain control be set? The manual says all the way down (counter clockwise) but people on the forums talk about turning it right up

Personal preference. I guess it really depends on the type of music you listen to. If you listen to rap (which is not music), you may want to crank it up higher.
