What did that entail? I missed that feature in January.
It's not a feature. I got eurostart with drone mobile for the remote start.

Have the car at the dealership now to look at the AC and some other issues. They said they found something and a software update should fix it. Won't be sure until I get the car back later this week. They mentioned something about warm still being selected even though in Auto mode... Hopefully will have details in paperwork, but not sure.

AC fix was a joke! They said I had center vents on warm. They were set to dead center, and they changed them to full cold. I really wish there was more than one dealer in this city! I specifically asked if there was a software update, but nothingentioned about even checking it.

Time to find a new dealer that can sort this out for you.

Early G30 models (2017-2018) did indeed have problems with the air conditioning system doing strange things when the outside temp was high. Our 2019 model is ice cold and stable at high outside temps with high humidity.

A google search of “early g30 air conditioner updates” shows a link from NHTSA with a ton of service bulletins addressing this issue.

Here in very hot greater Phoenix I sometimes have to park my car in the sun at a golf course so it will be sitting there for about six hours baking in 110 F heat. I do have a nano tint on the car and I open the sunroof a bit so hot air can escape and I put a cover over the windshield (as much to protect the leather dash as to reduce heat)After the 17th hole I take out my phone and use the BMW app to remotely turn on the AC. By the time I finish the last hole and get to my car, it is usually comfortable.

If I don't do that (there is one great course out here that is so remote that I don't get a signal so I can't use the app), then I start the car when I get in and put the AC on max and after about 5-10 minutes I can turn it back to auto.

Mine is a 2018 built in the end of 2017.

This is the only dealer for at least 100 miles, so I am pretty much stuck with them.
Thank you for the link, I sent the information to the dealer so hopefully it will help.

Look at the last post in this thread. It explains a LOT about the G30 HVAC system.

I feel your pain. We have one dealer in town. Closest competing dealers are two hours away, minimum. I actually bought mine from a dealer three hours away.

Seems like a great reason to quit golf and take up pickleball. Just sayin... Less water use too.

I added remote start so that I can turn it on way in advance. That's the best alternative that I've found.

Funny you say that. When I was dropping off the car the lead technician I spoke to said basically the same thing. He said on Auto the blend door can be partially open and that affects how it feels in the car.

I don't really care for that answer as my wife's Volkswagen has no issues in Auto mode and cost me a lot less. Even the BMW Dealer's loaner 228 managed to keep a steady temp in Auto mode.

Will see in the next few days if the software update helps solve the issue or at least make some improvement.

Bring a termostat with you. Take a drive in your car; then take a test ride in the 228 on the same route for the same amount of time and see what temperature you get.
