Mary Queen of Scots (2018)

Bit of a yawn-fest, disappointing even with both strong lead actresses

Not sure I how I feel about remake of a classic Disney movie, but I feel like I momentarily traveled back in time. Can’t wait.

^ I tend to avoid Disney movies at all costs.

EVERY DAMN ONE ONE OF THEM IS THE SAME TIRED ASS THEME. Examples below.

Character A, loses a parent. Character A along with sidekick B (and sometimes C) have to face an evil nemesis. By the use of some magical BS character A with the help of sidekick(s) go through some transformation in the form of a musical montage by list any top name performer by the use of more magic, love, encouragement and personal sacrifice in order to overcome the evil nemesis followed by happy feelings all around.

Give me a movie where the bad guy wins and everyone dies.

Ah yes. Right you are sir. Still.....movies that play on emotions are not for me. I watch to be entertained/educated not to have my emotions toyed with. This is work of women, not the film industry.

But they’re generally made for kids though. And people tend to not like the unfamiliar.

Off the top of my head, the only movie I can think of where a genuinely bad guy wins is The Dark Knight.

The very act of being entertained is the maker’s orchestration of drawing up particular sets of emotions though

Personally, I like the horror genre. I’m guessing maybe you do too?

Oh there are plenty. No Country for Old Men, Se7en, The Usual Suspects, The Prodigy, Silence of the Lambs, Chinatown, The Wickerman.....there are plenty.

Indeed. The more and sick and twisted the better. If you have not seen The Prodigy.....do so.

Those are good ones too. The dark knight stood out to me immediately because it was an amazing trilogy. But also because the joker really fucks up Batman. Which, I mean, it’s Batman..

Watched the SUSPIRIA remake finally. Thank goodness for fast forwarding. I really enjoy horror movies. And it still sucked of epic proportions.

Exactly......The Strangers come up for me. Older movie around 2010 I think, but left my wife shaken up.

Oh yeah! That's a good one too! Can't believe I forgot that one. Miss part 2. Not worth the time.

What these two movies have in common? The lead actors are probably the most talented actors in their generation but most often being misguided. And Meryl Streep probably is the best female actress of all time (see The Devil Wears Prada).

Watched Glass last night. Kind of slow and didn't have that "build-up" you would expect through the movie......ending was okay but still left some questions about other things that come to light near the end.

My wife and I watched it last night too. Didn't know what to expect but I'd say you summed it up pretty well.

John Carter
Not as bad as I thought it would be, but doesn’t really have anything particularly positive going for it other than maybe the dog thing. Acting, cgi and story are all fairly lacklustre.
