Rolex

First of all, I'm a HUGE fan of this new sub-section of the off-topic forum! I've been a watch fanatic almost as long as I've been a car enthusiast. Obviously, being young and in school, I don't have a huge collection that I've seen from many here in the various 'general' watch discussions.

But, as a graduation gift from high school / a gift for getting into a top university I was given a Rolex GMT Master II.

I just wanted to start a thread for the Rolex watch brand in general, so people can show off the models they wear and discuss the brand in general (I know that there is a lot of controversy over Rolex, especially compared to other 'high-end' brands such as Cartier, Omega, Patek Phillipe, and Audemars Piguet, etc).

But here is my watch! Share yours!

i have a datejust with a sodalite diamond dial. it's about 15 yrs old (though i picked it up 10 yrs ago, unworn with all stickers etc). got a great deal on it. rolex is the shit, there are other more expensive snob brands, but as far as quality, reliability, and reputation, rolex loses to nothing. it's a watch for all seasons: i've worn it to weddings, open water swimming, ghettofab with a cheap tshirt and nikes, or a night out with rockstar jeans.

aside from a few hairline scratches, it looks as good as the day i picked it up. and it's worth a lot more now too. if it stays winded, does not lose a second even after months. if i was to get a second rolex, it would be the one with the meteorite dial: literally out of this world!

Student life doesn't look too bad (Rolex and an E92).

Have a Breitling Airwolf, but trying to get a Rolex authorized by the boss.

Cool thread.

I have a Timex and an 8-figure investment portfolio - can't afford a camera to take pics cuz my cash flow is being diverted to unemployed slugs

Would LOVE to see the Daytona! Probably my favorite Rolex, considering its the true 'drivers' watch that is offered from their line. Sadly, compared to the GMT II, the starting price of a Daytona was just too high (especially as a grad gift!) A nice two-tone gold/steel Daytona will probably be the first watch that I buy for myself when I am older and can afford it!

I actually have a Tag as well. My first 'real' watch was a Tag Heuer 3000, and later a Tag Heuer Link Automatic Chronograph (blue face). Loved them both, but the Calibre16 movement on the Link started to go (loosing about 3-5 minutes every day or two) after about 2-3 years of wear.

Also, I do love the pics, but could we keep this discussion focused on Rolex? There are a couple of other 'general watch' threads, but I would like to keep this one specific to the brand. I may start a Tag Heuer one as well. And I assume it's encouraged that other threads for other brands (cartier, omega, audemars piguet, patek phillipe, etc) start springing up!
