The '22 has adjustable electronic exhaust sounds. Check the settings. Bummer. My '19 had electronic and I was disppointed as it was the first year it was introduced. "Join the Masses".

I almost went with the Michelins Pilot Sport 4S. I always strip the RFTs off before it leaves the dealership.

Ksoze. Thanks. Did it again today. Never had an issue with my '19.

Other the HP I prefer my 19 even though this version is a better look and wished I had grabbed a '21.

2022 m550 paddle downshift restrictor??

I hae had the car about six weeks now and due to travel have only put about 500 miles on it. I thought that I was imagining it but today I experienced and did soe experimentation.
I was cruising on the hiway at about 85 mph and was coming up on a car. I downshifted with my paddle to slow up and not run up the rear of the driver in front of me. It dropped inton 8th gear without much slowing which was normal
in my previous '19 M550 and then attempted to downshift again but it would not drop into 7th gear which would have safely slowed me up smoothly. I had noticed this on offramps but thought it was me.
Today I tried to paddle downshift at different speeds and from different gears and was restricted to one gear drop. It seems to be tied to speed. I'm certainly not speaking of "slamming" gears. I'm not sure what the point is if this is in fact by design. I am in Individual Sport mode with the same settings as in my previous '19. I'm interested in any help or feedack?
Dealer has NO clue.
Thanks.

I believe you need to put it in sport+. There is a limiting factor in sport that prevents downshift at high speed or rpm

I read that sommelier but not sure I could find the link, if I do I'll post it here

Ah.

Was the gear shift in S or M? If it was in S, that's why it was blocked. If it's in M you should have full control

Good explanation. It needs to be in M mode on Sports/Sports Plus. It's in the manual I believe. If it's in M mode you need to be careful downshifting too much because the car will listen to you.

Gearshift was in normal "S" position as always was in previous models. This is the way it is designed. The drive mode is set to "Sport Individual" and shows that in the intrument cluster. The way to get out of a downshift is to quick slide the gearshit knob left then right to bring you back to D/normal assigned gear. A slower route is to use right paddle to upshift through the gears. You will die from lack of accelartaion lag this way if coming out of a turn for example.
There was a computer error in communicating the paddle command. Fortunately there is not a limiteron the shift mode...at least not that I know of. I don't flog my cars but I do DRIVE them as intended.
Thanks.

you made me go look at my rear seats.
and yes, they are non-perforated while the fronts are perforated.
Definitely looks odd but i just dont look back and im good. probably better this way in case the kids spill their drinks

fyi - i have merino smoke white interior so i guess only M5s get the rear perforation.

Same situation on my new to me 2018 M550i. Perforated front seats, smooth rear seats.

Well let's see. 3 months in. 1k miles in.
My car continues to randomly "surprise" me by slamming to a stop rolling out of the garage. I pull forward less than one foot and attempt to back ot again and 99% of the time it allows me to proceed. what a POS design flaw.
As for the speed limit in the windsheild. I don't like any visual interference other than my speed in the windsheild...which I can only se at night without sunglasses anyways. The speed limit is displayed nicely in the cluster as well as on the "dial" in the proper setup.
Yes, funny enough I was just speaking of "The Bucket" that took the place of the phone trickle charger. It's so useless. Why they could'nt copy the design in th X5 is beyond me....even horizontally. I too extend the seat to create a crack as my advanced phone holder. I am using BMW Idrive for my phone so I cannot even text for business let alone email as Apple Car Play does not work with the Iphone 12 or 13 in the "21 or '22s. Dealer states BMW hasn't "caught up yet".

SCSFLL. What exterior color and trim is that? Black Sapphire and Ash? I assume you got the massaging seats. What do you think of them?

Yes to colors. I did not get massaging seats. I had them in a 760 and did not like them.
I had two Carbon Black 550 Msport/ blk and brwn leather upgrade. '19 M550 was Graphite/Blk/Burl upgraded leather. On the new '22 and '21 I think the trim around the front air tirrets, side vents and rear diffuser are polished black. For me It knocked out every color but black to "bury" the contrast. I have shadowline on all. I orderred black grill on first Msport for $300 I think. It was matte black which was, in my opinion much sleeker than high gloss.

massaging seats

When you say you didn't like the massaging seats, was it the massage or the comfort in regular mode?

I did not like them at all. It was either so subtle it was not worth it or lie kneading dough (my back).

I would agree with this. I have them and although it is a nice to have, I can't say it would be high on my list. The drivers seat is much more intense than my passenger seat. I had the dealer check it out and of course they say it is functioning as designed. The driver seat is probably 10x stronger. You can barely feel the passenger seat and passengers note this. I think I would like it the opposite way in my car for the cool factor for passengers, plus I think it is more enjoyable to have for someone relaxed and sitting back, vs. the tension of driving. Just too much going on while driving.

I did not order the massaging seats. I test drove a 2018 M550 and found the seat to be much harder and less comfortable than a regular seat.
Maybe because I have never had massaging seats before, but I thought they were a distraction while driving.

I also did not order the massaging seats this time around. Had them on my 2017 540 and was not really that impressed. Opted to put that 1k elsewhere.

I had them on my 2018 and hardly used them. I also have them on my 2021 and use them all the time. Much better on the 21.

Sensatec is nice. Couldn't justify all leather on this car. As a matter of fact not thrilled with seat coolers and the issue it causes with the seat surfaces. I've noted on Bimmerpost already.
