Thanks for the input. That is unfortunate to be happening to you as well as many others I have learned.
I am not that tight, have a level exit, do not have sensors sounding, do not have my foot on the accelerator and have it happen when I have it steer itself out or not. Also this was not an issue on my '19 M550. To have to create the fix that you are doing is ridiculous. The function is not doint its job if you have free and clear passage. I am starting to generate shop visits and a history. I have a '19 X5 that i was going to buy out due to low miles but after some research the steering freezes up on that particular model. The '22s are missing so much I am going to do it as a prudent business decision with the equity and fix the issue in three years. For now new X5, fewer creature comforts, less payment 12 mos early out. The nickle and dime saves BMW is doing must be part of a business model of less reputation of excellence and more profit per unit. |

Love my '21 550ix. Looking to buy a 2nd 5 series to ride the parents on their daily drive. Leaning for the 540 but so far I have found only non x drive. Is there much handling difference?

Soft close still on 7's and 8's I believe. If youve had them and then don't you miss them. I never thought twice about them before that. Details make seperation from others.

I wish that I had taken a '21 M550 instead of the '22. Less stripped off by design not chipset issue.

I absolutely LOVE the soft close doors on my 2020. I also think the massaging seats are Awesome. Some say its too weak, but on mine I usually leave it on level 2 vs 3. Its very nice IMO. Maybe something changed when they did the I drive and motor upgrade for 2020's and up ?

PDC/Active Drive Assist Issues
I have had my '22 M550 7 months now. There is DEFINITELY an issue with one of these systems. I believe that it is the rear side bumper sensors.
I have shared in the past that on random occasions when coming out of my garage automatically or manually at 0-1 mph reading the car will come to a violent stop. This has happened close to two dozen times now. I roll forward 1/4 tire rotation and then back out without issue...all but one time when it "trapped" me in the garage for 10 minutes and many attempts. Since I now look at my monitor I notice that the number and color of warnings light change for the same drive out on different occurrences. I have brought it to my dealer and without surprise it cannot be replicated and there are not any fault codes. Unfortunately, BMW will not act which is no longer a surprise...I have owned over 25 and have 3 right now. The ironic thing is that I just picked my M550 up from detailing and my service rep shared that he had the same experience in a '22 540 backing out of their wide shop doors and thought of me. IF anyone has had these strange and random experiences please share as I believe this is a recall item and possibly a Lemon Law claim. |

Thanks, the beeps, and lights are normal and welcome for sure. My X5 is a '191/2, I had a '19 M550 that did not have an issue. I believe it is the '22s.
I just asked them to replace the sensor but BMW would not allow it. My car is great but if they (BMW corporate) are, unfortunately being this non-customer friendly then that works both ways! |

What I think you should do is start making a log of every time it does it. Note the exact position of your vehicle, walls, door frames, etc. as well as time of day and whether or not it was windy (something blowing by, nearby bush triggering it, etc.). Perhaps you will be able to eventually be able to consistently duplicate the situation.
My gut feeling is that everything is working as designed, or at least within spec. If there was a problem with a sensor then I would think you would also be experiencing this situation in parking lots, on streets, etc. Good luck and hopefully you come up with something.

I had this happen to me just once.
I pulled forward into my 2-car garage at an angle to detail my car. When I was finished, I backed the car out slowly at the same angle I used to enter. The sensors went crazy, the car stopped abruptly and would not allow me to go any further. The sensors apparently thought I was going to back into the side of the garage door, even though I had the steering wheel completely turned to avoid it and I was not close to it. I believe I had to turn off the car and restart it to move again. I then backed out at the same angle it didn’t like without any further issue. I have pulled into my garage at the same angle at least 5 other times and never had an issue like this one event. I have never had a problem pulling in or out the garage straight or any other sensor issue for other situations.

Check if option 'emergency braking at the back' is checked and if it is turn it off. I remember I've turned this on once and experienced violent braking.
It is under vehicle settings > parking > active PDC emergency activation. It might be different under ID7. |

It is different in IDrive 7, but in the same area. I just checked mine and it is not selected. Which is probably why I havent experienced this violent stopping crap. I plan to leave it that way because my 3D view shows me everything I need to see when backing up.

Soft close doors on G30 are still available in some markets.
