N55 Fuel Pump Failure
So the day has finally arrived. Since I bought the car in February Ive had issues with cold start, decreased power, rough and bouncy idle. Took the car into Schomp BMW and they said the fuel pump is on its way out. 1100$ to replace. Hating life right now!

HPFP or LPFP?
SteveAZ sells LPFP for a good price with step by step instructions. If HPFP I don't think you N55 guys have a warranty but the part shouldn't be more then $400, they're charging $600 in labor? The N54 HPFP isn't too difficult to replace, couldn't be much different on N55. |

The N55 got no love on the extended warrantee BMW granted for the fuel pump, only N54's got that, even though pump failure is still clearly an issue with the N55, especially '11s. Yes I'm out of warrantee cars sitting at 62xxx right now, but I got the guy at the dealer to knock off 10% so thats kinda nice...

I told the dealer I bought my 2011 N55 e92 from, that I would only buy it if he wrote in a condition that he would replace my first hpfp at no cost. He agreed and it's in the contract.

You're an N55 that is pre-03/12....your fuel pump should not be more than $400 with a $50 refundable core charge. If it were post 03/12 then yes....those are a bit more expensive and I'd buy your bad one as I want to play with one of those.
Do the HPFP swap yourself if so inclined. Here is my DIY for it. Your install may differ slightly, but I don't think it will much and the HPFP itself won't. https://www.dropbox.com/s/c4wzuyx7ad...HPFP%20DIY.pdf GL, Steve Edit: Here's a comparison I did. You can see the differences between the two.
