"seat support for dynamic driving" not working?

I have a 2021 530i with the luxury seating package. I was messing around with my car today, and in the Sport Mode Individual settings there's an option for "seat support for dynamic driving" which is supposed to tighten the side bolters on the seats when in sport mode. However, nothing happens when I enable it. Switching between comfort and sport doesn't do anything to the side bolters. Anyone else have the same seats that have played with this option? I can manually change the side bolters just fine. I usually leave them mostly deflated.

Works properly in my MY2020 530e.

You stated you have them deflated so that’s not the problem. As I was going to mention to make sure they aren’t already at max inflation otherwise you won’t have any difference.

Since you have support for Remote Software Updates you can see if an update fixes it. Otherwise, can let a dealership sort it out.

What seat type do you have in your 530e? Do the bolsters inflate when you put it in sport or do you have to be doing something else too?

I just did a remote software upgrade last week, but didn’t see it before the update since I just recently bought the car. I guess i could just take it to the dealer.

Can you manually inflate?

If so, I would consider the loss of the automatic function a plus.

I have the luxury seating package. Yes, they do unless I turn the feature off in iDrive.

My 540i M Sport has the comfort seats with this adjustment. In comfort setting the side bolsters are wide open. In sport, I keep them snug but not all the way inflated. Probably 95% of the time I use sport. There are times it doesn’t seem to remember the bolster setting on sport so I adjust manually. It may be that I need to adjust to the desired setting and save it as setting 1 or 2 and haven’t done that.

I was looking up something for the new G60 seat settings and decided to look at the G30 manual to see if it's the same. For memory settings, it's the same. This explains why the seat bolster width doesn't always remember where it was between comfort (open) and sport (more support)...it's not saved with the seat position memory. From the G30 owner's manual page 111...

Memory function
Concept
The following settings can be stored and, if necessary, retrieved using the memory function:
▷ Seat position.
▷ Exterior mirror position.
▷ Steering wheel position.
▷ Height of the Head-up Display.

General information
Two memory locations with different settings can be set for each driver profile, refer to page 90.
The following settings are not stored:
▷ Backrest width.
▷ Lumbar support.

So does this mean I need to manually tell the car how I want the seat bolsters to be in sport mode? When I turn the car off, the side bolsters deflate a bit, and when I turn it back on, they inflate a bit. Switching from comfort to sport doesn't do anything though.

I don’t think the manual is accurate. I can definitely adjust the bolsters and it is remembered in my memory profile 1 and 2 respectively.

I sent an email to BMW genius support email but never heard back. I will ask the BMW dealer next time I go and see if they can tell me how it’s supposed to act. I have a hard time believing it has a software issue with the seats. Seems much more likely I’m just not doing something correctly.
