I still don't buy it. You don't get to that level with personal grudge issues. It's all about money.

I think we're all getting trolled, hard.

Probably just another marketing ploy to attract more viewership and attention to the show.

Pulling the show for the rest of the season for punching the caterer (you claim that it wasn't even physical) is ludicrous. Executives would never do that.
Because it seems the higherups at BBC have it out for Clarkson for some reason. It feels like two big egos clashing. BBC execs and Clarkson have been at it for some time, most likely dealing with an edgy relationship because both sides were raking in the millions. You see this situation also in the NFL, head coaches and owners have relationships that go sour. They can only hide it for so long and it surfaces, even with a successful team. The team owner eventually lets their ego get the best of them and fires a very successful coach like Jim Harbaugh. In the process they try to make said coach look bad in the media.

It makes sense the person that the punch was thrown at was possibly a friend. Because the story was hidden from execs for a week. It leaked and has turned into this.

ITV is offering Clarkson big money to move to their station. He can't be all that bad.

But with a factory prepped car and blah blah blah. Typical Ferrari move.

Yeah Ferrari Ego is ridiculous, you notice how the only manufacture that doesn't put up a fight is the German one(Porsche)? Says something about there confidence in engineering.

If it was McLaren against Porsche, I doubt it would be much of an issue. When it involves their on track nemesis, there's a bit more at stake. That's McLaren... Ferrari would demand full control even if it was against a Kia.

Turns out Clarkson is the one that reported the incident.

Hard to take that article seriously with all of the puntuation omissions.

That said, just because he reported the incident doesn't mean it didn't go like this:

JC: I would like to report a serious incident.

Boss: Ok, what happened?

JC: They didn't have food waiting for us on set after we wrapped shooting!

Boss: Sorry to hear that. How was it resolved?

JC: I tried to punch him.

Not very familiar with the case itself, but I will make a comment in regards with the quoted phrase.
You are obviously confused about many aspects.
If somebody is a drug addict, it is his choice, that does not influence me or a third party individual. A punch is a dirrect act of aggression.
Maybe some produce their music under the influence and that is fine as soon as their decision does not impact the life of others.

And please do not give the term compassionate a bad twist. I am compassionate towards the person that was not at fault, not towards the aggressor whoever it might be.
You don't care what the guy did? Wow! Maybe your dream will come true, one day, some big rich arrogant star will punch you; you can take a selfie with your blue eye and proudly post it in here...

If someone broke the law, that person must be punished as the law requires regardless of who it is. Period!

The Guardian is supposedly a reputable source over there (I think it has been around since the early 1800s). In undergrad, I had a professor that contributed to the Guardian when he lived abroad. He had also published several books and was considered an expert with respect to the history of Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands.

I'd be interested in hearing from our UK members regarding which newspapers are "reliable."

As far what actually happened, I don't really care. I enjoy Top Gear as entertainment. If the show is scrapped, the presenters will be fine. I would feel a bit sorry for all of the other crew members. They'd need to find new jobs.

I was just having a little fun (with the situation and the publication).

I don't know how reliable it is as a source for news, I was only pointing out that there were a large number of comma issues in the article. I read the NY Post every day and they also have a ton of punctuation issues and spelling errors so it may be pervasive in the industry. I think The Guardian is a popular source for news (I hear/see the name a lot).

No, rule number one is that time is a flat circle.

Rule number two is that no newspapers are reliable. In my defense, I posited that the Guardian is "supposedly reputable." I did, however, wonder aloud whether our UK members felt there were "reliable" newspapers in the UK.

Here in the States, there are a few news sources that I consider reliable. Reliable is a sliding scale though. I would definitely agree that no newspapers are perfect because nothing is perfect. And on that bombshell . . .

A bit. Having Top Gear on your resume can't hurt finding a job though.
