I sent VT the link to this thread via their contact us form, because in America there are such things as class action suites and fraud cases.

I've had a set of VT mounts on my M3 for a little over 18 months, and if they're toasted there will be hell to pay.

Interested to see if they respond and how so.

Was just underneath my car last night working in the area and inspected the VT mounts same time, they are still mint. No deterioration in the rubber. Maybe 10,000 km's on them since I installed them couple years ago.

I took a couple extra measures though before I installed them. I ceramic coated the stock headers and added E46 heat shields on both sides. Heat is the biggest killer of rubber. Those heat shields are important.

Thanks for posting this and the photo. It's nice to know the E46 M3(?) heat shields work as mitigation. I still think VT dropped the ball on the design though, especially if heat is the failure root cause, because of the mount proximity to the headers. Duh. VT should've known this fact. I encourage anyone reading to send this thread page link to VT via their contact us web form.

I think the issue with VT is more of the fact that they market their mount as a serviceable item when they don't or have stopped selling replacement parts for it. Thus making their mount a non-serviceable item. I initially bought their mount because I thought it was serviceable.
