Buyer beware of scammers.

All users and moderators be advised I was scammed for $500 dollars by this user!!
Took advantage since I’m new! It might even be someone on this platform and the reason why is because I tried sending a private message to a member here but it wouldn’t let me since I’m new so I posted on the member’s classified post and told him to message me a number since I can’t send messages yet so this guy hit me up pretending to be the other person. I can post a picture of the $500 I sent to his/her Venmo account.

Sorry to hear. But yes, the scammers do this on every single classified listing on here. I just assumed everyone knew. But as you said, You're new, no way for you to know.

I can tell you usually in the scammers messages, something is misspelled or not what you'd expect as standard English.

Sorry didn’t know how to tag you guys.
I just didn’t want anyone else to fall for it that’s why I took a picture for everyone to see. This could’ve been much worse because after I sent the $500 deposit last night he/she was trying to sell me M5 conversion kit this morning and wanted a much higher amount as a deposit and the rest in cash upon delivery that’s when I started getting suspicious. It’s just sad to see this happening to this community as I used to be here all the time back in my E60 days.

On top of the good advice here, only transact through PayPal. I never send Zelle, Venmo, Cash App to strangers.

My neighbor reached out to me yesterday because he sold a laptop in person to someone and they paid him by Zelle. Turned out to be a fake Zelle account and the money didnt deposit to his account. Sucks. So many scammers out there.

Sorry man. Seems like we need an attorney to set up an app like escrow. Seller opens account on Escorow it dot com. . Buyer send $ there and when goods are recieved monies are released less a small fee.

I guess the issue becomes the buyer scams tbe sell by saying stuff never arrived ? Who knows. Gotta be a way.

I wish there was a window that pops up when you first register for this forum that details this scam. It's a very common scam that gets almost every newcomer.

I've been hit up multiple times this same way, but always go back to the original poster and message them directly. If I can't do that, then I'll post the info on the actual for sale thread and wait for the OP and only the OP to respond.

I tried updating the scammer post, but these guys go through so many screennames that you just can't keep track of them all.
