3/4 rear view with original, rendered and animated gif to show the work... And... the car in a nicer setting Cheers!

Look at the 7er and X5 to determine how three dimensional the rear lights are especially in the number plate surround.

Well, I'm sold enough that I put a deposit to secure the first G30 allocation at my dealer. :-)

I hope not - looking to move from F30 to G30 by March 2017. Hopefully the new model will be out in 530e/540e engine for that date.

My dealer told me that the upcoming 5 series will be smaller than the current 5-series because right now it is as big as the short-wheelbase version of the new 7-series.
Is this true? Are they really slimming down the new 5 series?

Just leased a 535. I was considering waiting for the new G30 but i was told by multiple sources that its about a year and half way from being released. Couldn't wait that long.I would expect this car Mid to late 2017 as a MY2018

That's accurate for the US market. As my F10 lease is up in OCT 2017, that's perfect timing. :-)

No, the F10 is 490 cm, while the SWB G11 is 510 cm, so significate longer than the F10. I'll expect the G30 to grow by a few cm compared to the F10.

I bet we'll see the new 5er in North American showrooms next spring. The MY16 is going to be produced through this fall. I'd guess that they then skip MY17, and go right to MY18 next spring. They've done that before (with the 7er) and it preserves the seven-year product cycle as the F10 first came here as an MY11.

I'm 95% sure the G30 will be my first new purchase and it's getting damn hard to wait - coming from a 98 540i and then an '08 550i.. was going to try to stretch to an '18 550i but can't wait much longer (as much as I love those sweet E60 curves). I test drove a couple of the current 5's, but after having bought my wife the new X1, all of the non-tablet style interiors feel really outdated now. Must.... hold... on.... |

Since Magna will be doing some of the production, there will be F10/G30 overlap. |

looks to be a great looking car from all the rendering photos i've seen posted here my only concern would be how not to buy the first year of each model until they work the bugs out...is that the consensus on the G30 as well? also, do you guys think the G30 will come in a base model and the MSport like the F10 meaning with the different front/sides/rear bumper?
edit: i just saw another thread regarding MSport version lol!

As far as people not liking the floating screens, I get the feeling that that must only be true for people who havent lived with that interior style for a while. When I first saw it in showrooms on the 3, i thought it was silly. However the first time i had a 3 series loaner for more than two days, i got used to it and now i love it. I got my wife the new x1, and the interior design is great - getting rid of all that excess "stuff" around the screen makes the dash feel so much more... Athletic? Open? I had test driven the f10 5 before and liked it but thought the interior was very nice, but dated - same kind of style as my e60. I just had an f10 535 over the weekend as a loaner while my e60 was in the shop, and found the x1 interior more inviting to be in! So the floating screen is it for me - and i have a feeling that as more and more people get used to it in the 5, its going to end up being very well received. |

It allows the entire upped dash to be lowered, which certainly opens up the interior and gives the designers much more freedom to work.
