No Armrest, No Problem!
Surprised there were quite a few people on here who didn't like the lack of an armrest.
Was driving today and reflecting how much easier it's to shift the car (and more smoothly) along with using i-Drive. Feels way more natural compared to my previous M2's where my hand came from a downwards angle, not in line with the shifter and dial. And if I do want to, I can rest my arm on the alcantara anyway. Upgrade in my eyes!

None of my sports cars have arm rests. E30 M3, LTW, Toyota 86. I However do find the combo of no arm rest and short in height shift knob annoying. Bumping the Idrive knob sometimes when shifting into 4th and 6th. That's an easy fix thou.

Just realized out of my current line up only the CLK has an armrest and to be honest its not padded or comfortable. I don't think the 150 rest of the world Black Series came with an armrest.

So far all of these little edits and deletes really seem to sing harmoniously in the CS. This car keeps getting better and better the more I get to know it. |

If the armrest had never been mentioned it likely would never have crossed my mind. I don't wish that there was one there. I don't hit the idrive controller, my right arm rests comfortably. I like the clean look of no armrest. I'm glad there isn't a cubby there to store useless crap. Plenty of space in door cards if needed. I became a minimalist with my last car and carried that practice to this one. Even drinks can fit in the door cards.

I'm a convert. Originally I thought the lack of armrest would be the single biggest dislike for me. Not a problem. Like JimJamz I'm making good use of the door armrest on longer drives. Using the other arm for primary wheel grip where one-hand is appropriate.
I will say resting arm on center console just doesn't work well for me. It's too low and the iDrive knob is in the way. Just keeping the arm closer to body and hand on the wheel. A bit of a reversal from my E39, where I use the door armrest less and the center armrest all the time. |

CS in the house! No, not the M2 CS but the Italian version. Challenge Stradale! Legendary car.

To me, the armrest in both my F36 and F22 was a pain.
It had a contactless charger in it; pity my phone wouldn't fit in it. Then if I wanted to keep anything else in there, the lid wouldn't shut. And if I put nothing in it, my 4-legged son Mikey would jump on the lid and go surfing when the lid slid forward, which inevitably would have him bounce on to the gear stick and you can imagine the rest .... pretty funny really I'm actually looking forward to not taking Mikey out with me, as much as I'll enjoy not having the armrest

My arms measure slightly longer than Michael Phelps, so resting my elbow on the Alcantara is actually a lot more comfortable!

For those that are still uncomfortable. I noticed that the seat only drops a little, but then the seat angle can also be rotated. Rotating the seat down and back, and countering with the upper portion leaning forward seems to drop the seat a bit more. Mine now feels more like a racing bucket seat where the butt portion is lower than the thigh portion of the seat.
This was to make the point that you may be able to get lower to more comfortably use the console to rest your arm. I find it very comfortable. |

Ditto, exactly how I have my 135 setup.
Though the motor on the rear lift sometimes doesn’t work so I don’t touch it now or I can get stuck too low. I didn’t even think to see if it has the leg extension like the 1. I did notice the lack of lumbar adjust with the new M2CS/M4 seats. NBD but I’m not sure I’d qualify these as neither more nor less comfy that the 135i. I actually think those have a deep bolster.

The steering wheel extension is nice. I commented to the dealer that the 135i didn’t have that, he claimed it does, but in the 3 years I’ve had that car I never yanked on it admittedly but I’m 99% sure it doesn’t. I could go check but it’s brick out and it’s parked in the snow 😂

Same, also with the manual my hands aren’t as idle.
I don’t really use my arm rest on the 135i either. It’s pretty narrow where my elbow lands.
