ISTA+ errors when retrofitting ceramic climate controls
I recently retrofitted ceramic controls to me G30. However, I am getting some shadow codes in ISTA+ w.r.t the iDrive controller and the climate control unit.
The iDrive controller reports a code stating that there is "no current coding data stored" while the climate control unit reports a code stating "wrong variant installed." I presume I need to use E-Sys and code the modules to my VO? Code: 026708 Description: CON: No current coding data stored Code: 801229 Description: IHKA control box: Wrong variant installed |

If you figure this out give us an update, I can't believe a different controller/AC knobs need specific coding when it doesn't operate differently.

I know right!? The funny thing is they seemingly work perfectly normal. I haven't noticed any additional (or lack of) functionality. In fact, the donor vehicle seemed to have had cooled seats as evident when I first installed the climate control module and the cooled seats toggle appeared on the screen. Alas, pressing the buttons didn't do anything. They soon went away after a few minutes. That lead me to believe the climate control module communicated with the IHKA module and determined I didn't have cooled seats and removed them. But, I guess there is some other metadata or otherwise in these ancillary modules that causes some conflict with their parent modules and ISTA+. Dang Germans and their over-engineering! |

I got the same IHKA error on my X3 with the touch panel climate controls. I assume there is a setting for the different variants of the climate controls in the IHKA module, just like there are different variants of the headlight switch in the BDC. I didn’t dive into it too much since I was only testing it on that car, once I get my G30 in a few weeks I will see if I can find the actual code for the right variant.

So I just edited my VO to add 4U1 (Ceramic controls). Then I calculated the FP and coded the two modules (IHKA4 and ZBE4) using the new FA. IHKA4 coded just fine and fixed my issue, but ZBE4 seems to have an error code. Any ideas?
Edit: Seems like I need to use "Detect CAF for SWE" and insert the proper CAFD file. Unfortunately, it looks like I need to either use an earlier version of PSdZData <4.17.20 or a later version of E-Sys. I don't have Launcher Pro 3.x, so not sure if I can use E-Sys 3.33.x? Need to find PSdZData Lite <4.17.20... Last edited by Frozen Fractals; 01-17-2020 at 01:52 AM.. |

Same happened to me. I bought the ceramic shifter, A/C & radio controller and iDrive. Car couldn't be worked on at the dealer due to the iDrive controller only. I swapped back the original controller and all worked out well with no dealer error codes. Once the dealer was done doing their software updates and oil service I swapped back the ceramic controller and all functioned well. For future service appointments I'll swap back the original controller. Hope this helps!

No coding was done, plugged in the components and it just worked, aside for the errors at dealer with the iDrive controller.

You need to use Esys.
