Driver Door Controls Not Working
I have a 2018 540i.
Unfortunately, my driver side mirror cover flew off on the highway and also shattered the mirror. Immediately when this happened, the driver door controls stopped working alongside the ambient light on the driver door. Any advice on how to fix this? Thank you for any help. |

Yikes. What took the mirror off?
I’d bet your wiring in the door was damaged. Probably need to take it apart and assess the damage. Otherwise let insurance handle it. |

Dam you think that small impact messed up the wiring in the door? |

Also I forgot to mention at the same time the rear window switches stopped working. So only the passenger side works.

So this doesn't sound like a potential fuse issue?

Could be. The mirror being ripped off could have caused a short that blew a fuse.
Could be anything until the door is opened up and damage is assessed including fuses and other wiring. Would be a waste of time to replace the fuse only to learn a loose wire is making contact with the door sheet metal causing a short that blows that fuse quickly… |

You’ve got to take the door panel off or remove the switches to see what may have affected them.
It’s like creating a post to say that there’s a puddle of liquid under my car and prior to that there was steam/smoke coming out from under the hood. Then we ask…what did you see when you raised the hood? And you respond that you never raised the hood….but does anyone know what happened? If the exterior mirror got broken and there are exposed wires…and switches in the door stopped working…without looking inside the door to see what damaged might have occurred…its a mystery to the rest of us as to what may be going on. You need to look inside the door to see what may have happened to the wiring that goes to the switches. If a fuse is blown…it is going to take out the whole component & anything else that it is powering…it won’t just knock out half of the switch. Like is the switch still illuminating at night? If yes, then there’s power to the switch.
