Front tire pressure 50 PSI ?

Took her out for a nice stroll this morning, and got the low tire pressure warning. Checked pressure and it was 46 PSI, which always has been recommended previously. However, now its saying recommended pressure is 50 PSI ???

Went into settings and reset everything to Summer Tire, 20" wheel and speed above 100 mph. Still saying recommended pressure is 50 PSI.
First time i've seen this. Previously it was always recommended to 46 PSI.

Anyone have a fix for this ?

I did that twice. Drove around for about 20 miles, still saying 50 PSI.
Just started out of the blue today for some reason.
i may reset I Drive and see if that does anything.

That is strange. My tire pressure recommended settings is 41 front and 44 rear. 46 up front? Aren't we running the same setup? Michelin Summer?

Those pressures are pretty high, must be the difference between 19’s & 20” the G31 runs @ 2.4 BAR (34.8psi)

Yes Joe, we are. PS4S for me.
Just went and started it up, and its back to 46 PSI again. Now that you mention your settings, I remember mine being that way too. I wonder what the fuck is going on here? Have to figure it out because I got a warning cannot go over 80mph, and I cant have that.

46 psi?

That must be like driving on rollerskates. I run about 30 on the 540i Touring and I get perfect wear and a very connected feel. Highest I ever went was 44 and aside from turn-in, the handling was horrible.

Yea, I need to fix this shit asap.
Problem is I Drive freaks out thinking I have a flat or something going on and limits me to 80 mph or less. Going to try and reset I Drive and maybe cycle through different tire sizes/setups to get it back to normal.

Assuming no other weird issues, go into Idrive and choose "other" for tires. Then you can run whatever you want.

Was it parked on a hot street or checked after driving?

The recommended pressure reads tire temperatures to give you an accurate recommendation. Normal recommendations are on a “cold” tire.

No, I live in Nashua NH.
Temps were mid to high 50 degrees. I think something is screwy with it because 50 PSI is ridiculous for a high performance street tire (PS4S).

Recommended m550i tyre pressures for staggered 20” wheels copied & pasted below

Recommended tire pressure for 2021 BMW M550i xDrive is 38 psi to 42 psi for front tires and 35 psi to 39 psi for rear tires.

I though 46psi was rather high

I think 46psi is the highest recommendation I’ve seen on my m550 with 20 inch tyres

For 3 hours yesterday, with temps just under 60 degrees, I was getting low pressure messages and could not go over 80 mph because I was not at 50PSI for the front tires. I will take pics if it happens again. I think 50 psi is ridiculous.

It is way too high. The US pressures are far too high in general, as the legislation that forces manufacturers to post high pressures came from the old Firestone court case.

Best to check Euro half-load pressures and adjust up or down from there, depending on tire and wear.
