It looked pretty good slammed

" if i had bugati veyron wheels, u better believe im gunna keep those center caps on the wheel. "

what a moron...

a forum run by 15 year olds warrants that kind of thought processing I guess.

I think you should stop trying to change their minds about their mods. They flame like there's no tomorrow. If they want to brand swap, let them, their scene is all about it. Personally, that Rabbit looked hideous, but trying to tell them not to buy certain wheels is like them coming here and telling us not to buy VMRs or BBS LMs. If that's how they roll, what can we do about it?

VWVortex is the main reason why I will never buy a VW. They are great cars, but I will eventually want to go to a big forum related to my car and talk with educated, mature individuals who are aware of what brand of car they drive and will helpfully contribute to the forum. VWVortex is a lost cause, like e46Fanatics

I don't get posts like these. It's not like the whole forum is into changing their wheels using other brands. And actually, there are a bunch of people willing to contribute their help to the forum. Ton's of DIY stuff and if you have a question, more likely than not, they will answer it and go into detail. These guys know their cars inside and out. I didn't know choosing a certain type of wheel (although I must admit that offset on the rabbit is retarded) made you immature and uneducated. Many gurus on that forum, that one thread isn't representative of the whole VW crowd. Go around the forum, it is the only forum that makes me want a VW because everybody is so enthusiastic and the threads there go in depth about issues. Of course brand swapping is not everyone's thing, but that shouldn't factor in to whether they are mature or helpful. I find myself shaking my head at some decisions made to people's cars, but in the pursuit of being different, not to mention the massive crowd over there with some tech know-how, I have nothing but respect for those guys. I don't see why VWvortex should sway you from buying a great car.

The aircooled guys have it right. Their motto is "Form Follows Function."

Custom chassis housing an Audi V8...

Type 4(Porche 911) Air cooled motor, 911 fan shroud...

Gorgeous...to me anyways...

2000 lbs, 250 hp ... you might need Porsche brakes, 996 CV's, coilovers, to make these things stop and go. Drums on all four corners just wont cut it...

Pretty harsh to judge an entire forum base on one post.

Vortex might have changed in the last couple years but when I frequented the site there were a lot of friendly and helpful people there. I would even say less douchebags than you find here sometimes.

It's really not the make, but the demographic. The modded classic bugs belong to a different group of owners are to be respected.

+1
The aircooled VW community is absolutely second to none when it comes to kind, trustworthy, and helpful people. It's a shame that the attitude doesn't spill over to the watercooled guys...wait, was that a pun???
