I pulled this pic of an M550 facebook group. I believe this rear diffuser is an OEM part from BMW. I have seen a ton of the cheaper EBay setups or M5 looking rear diffusers, but this one looks very simple and subtle. I believe it is around $350 online.
Any of you have it? I believe it comes in matte black only. I was thinking it might look good color matched to the color of our cars or perhaps wrapped in carbon? I have the OEM small carbon trunk spoiler. I"m looking for something to dress up my rear diffuser area without going overkill. I want something simple and subtle. This one looks clean and it retains the OEM fitment of the rear bumper. Not sure how it would look on a med blue car like mine with the gray lower bumper piece. This guy appears to have made his rear bumper insert glossy black and the small diffuser piece flows nicely. Looking to see pics of this setup on other colors. Thanks.

This I believe is the M performance PDU rear diffuser piece. You will need a different rear bumper piece than you already have (although they look the same) + MP rear diffuser to work. Rear bumper piece comes in gloss black I believe and diffuser is primed for you to paint ( here are the part numbers: diffuser 51192412406 and rear bumper piece 51192412409; this is needed for the MP CF rear diffuser too) As an option you can also get the LCI rear bumper part that looks very much like this in the exact same colour as the one you already have on your car (grey). Here is the part number: 51128098701 This will be much cheaper with OEM fitment. Although the bumper itself on LCI is different but the rear bumpers fit the exact same. You might have to get two new rear reflectors though. Not sure if the LCI reflectors are different. Here is the pic of m550i LCI rear bumper/diffuser from a post for reference: https://g30.bimmerpost.com/forums/at...8;d=1599769924 |

You mean the rear insert part on the LCI cars fits on the pre-LCI cars? That might be a way to go. Stock OEM looking but with a better look. I like how the newer LCI rear has the slightly more aggressive look iwth subtle fins. I'll have to see what the cost is of the LCI piece. I also thought of adding something in CF to match my small CF rear lip spoiler…but a lot of the CF pieces stick out a lot more than stock and I think would not look right on my otherwise stock car. I also considered the M5 style diffuser and painting the larger portion med blue to match my car and leaving the center part black or CF. BUT, the exhaust cut outs on the M5 rear bumper are meant for the quad tips on an M5 and may not line up right with my stock exhaust. I'm not changing my exhaust and I want my rear bumper to have OEM fitment with my exhaust. Thanks for the info. I did not know the LCI M550 rear diffuser section would fit on my car.

I have upgraded my pre-LCI with MPPSK. The MPE tips were bigger similar to m550i tips so I had to change my rear bumper piece to m550i. I went through this and wasn't sure at the time if it would fit or not so I end up getting the pre-LCI one. The LCI one was actually cheaper by $40 CAD. Around $280 CAD for LCI vs $320 CAD for pre-LCI. M5 rear bumper won't work for sure. I went through that too. 😂😂 The thing with CF is that if you buy none OEM ones they would look different from the OEM one rear spoiler you have. Directions and size of the bids in CF parts won't match from different venders. So I will look better if buy all CF parts from one vender. |

it's a M performance diffuser just without the big diffuser. there's two option for the m performance diffuser. 1 has the small middle diffuser and 1 has the giant diffuser that hugs the exhaust tips.
if you have the M550 you might want to look up the other threads. There is literally only one seller on ebay selling the mp style diffuser that fits the M550 (or mppsk exhaust) |

Cclcal - Can you post another pic of your car from further back to get a better overall perspective? Where did you get that one? Link? Cost? That looks good and fitment is nice. I have seen others that require you to dremel/cut and I don't want that. I want OEM type fitment and I want something more minimalist….not "in your face". My car is all stock and I'd like to stick with the subtle look of the car. When I upgrade to an M5 or a 911 turbo then I'll go "in your face"..

Pulled the trigger on the eBay one. I am looking forward to taking this picture over again. I will post it, I think it should be a good before and after for people to cross reference to help with deciding. I think this is a good distance and angle.

I put a similar one on my wife's 2019 540i. This particular diffuser was made for a 2021-2022. I had to do some slight modifications with a Drimmel and some extra screws to get it to fit on the 2019. |

Hi,
so I understand that the LCI OEM diffuser (51128098701) fits the pre-LCI cars? Do you need to perform any modifications or need extra screws etc? Thanks for that |

Hello everyone
I ordered the LCI diffusor for my M550i Pre-LCI (part number: 51128098701 and then of course took it straight to the painter without first checking the accuracy of fit ;( Yesterday I tried for over two hours to fit the diffusor without success, I just couldn't snap it in with the lugs on the left and right, seems like the LCI diffusor is slightly shorter than the Pre-LCI original. Has anyone fitted the LCI diffuser (part number: 51128098701) to the M550i Pre-LCI without any problems? If so what part number? |

I may as well update this thread with a pic of this diffuser now with Dinan tips.
