BMW Connected drive on G30

I was womdering how does the connected drive works. I am going to have it on my g30. So i wanna know, anyone who is registered to the cars connected drive can trace the location of car and where its been? or that is only shown to person driving it or how it works in privacy. i mean I wouldnt want my girl friend really tracking me all the time??

Just you. I haven't tried to install the app on two different devices though so it could work but she would have to set it up.

On older cars yes. On newer cars if you tick the gps location in the idrive settings you can see it anywhere.

Not sure at what point it changed.

You can turn off GPS location sending in the car while you use it if you want.

It should be under settings in Idrive.

Dont know how old your X4 software is, but this only came out around 2015 if I recall.

I have the app installed on my wife's iPhone and my own. Both with my connected drive login id and that id has both the F36 and F15 registered to it so both of us can "see" the location of either car no matter where we are as both apps are logged in using same id

You can setup separate accounts for each vehicle or use one for multiple. It shows really accurate real-time position (if there are cellular towers in range). But, it does not show history.

Does anyone know if the location is showed only when the car is parked or also while it's in motion? I thought there was a distinction where it only showed it while parked but that could be an old rumor or old version.

Mine shows in motion. It does make a difference that I use Android app.
