All old screws came off go back in same place and new diffuser and bumper trims fits in same place , it’s very secured mate

Gotcha.
Are you aware of the two components "Exhaust system support adaptor cover" and "Rear side Scuttle"? did you have to install them?

Here is a picture that I found showing the additional components. The two components in the middle and also the several clips.

I used middle part what was already on the car so don't be buying this one, new black bumper trim and diffuser fit straight on to existing backing plate (middle trim in pic)

small flat trim will fit in green circle place see pic .

I would suggest , lay under the car and look at everything in detail and then start , trust me it's pretty easy and only need basic tools for this job

Don't yank it out or push in hard that's all.

I will try to take some pics for you but I don't know if you know we are getting hit by snow badly this week but soon as weather clears I will do that for you mate.

Help it helped .

Looks great, really like the stylised picture too I'm crap with the camera.

In your pic, thats the non-carbon diffuser isn't it? The same one that I've got now?
Your car looks amazing! Can you tell me one thing though, this might be a stupid question but have you had the rear bumper and the rear diffuser trim re-sprayed gloss black? I know both parts come as matte black and cant decide if I should fit them as standard or get them gloss to match the m performance front grilles. If you have any more pics showing how the finish of the parts as they came could you post them up please?

Cheers

Right, going to give this a go once it stops raining. I assume its a case of 8mm Hex to remove the screws and then slowly popping each connector off to remove the whole rear trim.

Has anyone bought this rear diffuser on Ikon’s website (link below)? I’m looking for pictures, and general feedback re fit, quality, etc., to see if it’s something I want to go with on my M550. I’m also considering the M performance parts as discussed in this thread.

Hi Guys,

I have installed the M performance diffuser and small insert trim.

While I have used a replica version, I have ordered the genuine parts from my local dealership.

To be honest, I couldn’t find a single G30 in person, that had one fitted so I wasn’t certain if I would like it, so decided to get the cheap one first to make my mind up and I must say in person it makes a good difference.

While I find the black gloss version really pops, I do think the Matt black might look more OEM and less boy racer.

I have two questions, my replica version as you can see from the photos, I can not get the bolts under the vehicle to line up, else where the fit and quality is pretty decent for the £110 asking price (but not perfect)

Reading the BMW M Performance aero kit installation guide, it mentions cutting two small areas of the large exhaust support cover, however this isn’t clear if this is only required for the larger carbon fibre wing version. Does anyone know ?

Looking underneath the car, I can’t see how cutting these areas would benefit the fit of this version.

Question two, has anyone painted the small insert in their body colour like shown in the official photos?

I can’t seem to find any real life pictures and would you think the looking having the insert painted white or keeping it all Matt black would look best.

Thanks
Jon

Hi Jon, I can't answer your questions I'm afraid, but I'm thinking of getting a replica diffuser(yeah I'm cheap) did you manage to get it to fit properly and line up?

You need a different brace like in the middle of this picture. When I ordered mine they pointed this out for me. I have photos at the link in my signature. I painted the main panel to match and the insert in black sapphire metallic.

Hi G50, I’ve not been able to, now don’t get me wrong it’s on fine and won’t fall off, as it’s held on with clips and the two bolts at each end, which is the same as the standard diffuser comes, it just annoys me the three centre bolts holes don’t align.

Mach has pointed out it may need another exhaust holder trim, am still reading up on this as his is a 550i which I believe has a different exhaust holder trim to lower models. As the UK m performance fitting guide does not list this step (we didn’t have the 550i pre LCI in the UK

By the way, replacing the plastic bracing requires you to remove the entire bumper panel

Yes thanks Mich, I think it’s important to confirm this for everyone else, the M performance diffuser will
not fit the standard M sport exhaust support adapter.

As you can see from my photos the new adapter has holes in it, which are needed for the fins to fit threw so it’s a bumper off job to fit.

I have decided not to attempt fitting this myself and will take it to the dealer.

Thanks Jon G30NI

It's really not that difficult to do in your garage within a morning or afternoon and you don't need any special bits or tools to install it. I think I attached the guide to my build thread in my signature too.

I appreciate that mate, I just don’t feel confident being able to refit the bumper on my own, I feel that’s a two man job lol, so called my dealership and they are fitting for £100 plus am getting a few issues looked at under warranty while there anyways .. my creaking driver seat is driving me mad lol

So I felt it might be useful to include a photo of the diffuser in both painted gloss black and how it comes from the factory in Matt black.

Just curious but did you have that diffuser painted?
