I had a tattoo I didn’t like, so I removed it. It didn’t matter the location on my body, it didn’t matter that I could easily hide it if needed, it’s the fact that I knew it was on me and I didn’t want it on me.
I have to agree with Sara here. If it’s considered an eye sore, or draws unwanted attention which has additional impact, sure get it gone. I have a mole on my right cheek that I loathe. It’s quite ugly to me and has been pointed out a time or two. Can’t hide it. Some day soon I’ll consider getting it removed. That said, I’m uniquely confident to the point that IDGAF what anyone else thinks of it, I loathe it, therefore it goes.

If you had a birth mark, would you have surgery to have it removed? Or where/what size would it have to be, in order for you to consider surgery?

I'll show you why after a few responses (SFW, don't worry! )
Depends as already read here before.
I've seen really cute ones and also more uglies. At the end its a matter of you if you can stand it. If you are unhappy enough to get rid of it, let it done.

Well, here is the back of my left hand...

It's not pretty I guess, but honestly 99% of the time I forget it's even there! I occasionally wonder what others who notice it think, but it's never drawn significant attention really.

I'm not going to get it removed, but was just curious to others' opinions on birth marks, since there are a few here who are not shy of going under the knife for cosmetic reasons.

Leave it alone. It's character.

Unless you are planning to become a hand model, or get into any sort of a career where identifying markings will only cause you problems; leave it.

I had considered cosmetic surgery for a small growth I have. I've gotten so used to it that I don't even notice anymore; plus it's kinda cool being known for the guy with a baby penis growing out the base of my skull. Doesn't land me many dates though.

That's not ugly on your hand. If it was on me, I wouldn't remove it. The birthmark on my leg is similar to that, but smaller. I have scar on my right hand that I've had since I was 8 years old. I completely forget I have it until someone else asks me about it.

If it was on my face or neck, I may consider removing it by skin graph if I felt ugly with it, but the hand to me, wouldn't warrant removal.

I still have several pages to go in this thread, as it has blown up in the last few days (I blame the arrival of 2 women ), but I have some new questions about a situation that I would love to run by some of you, more experienced, folks about a situation with a woman at work. Feel free to PM me if you're willing to talk... or pester me to put it out in public... either way.

I broke that rule too - I dated the accounting assistant while working at a travel company in the 90s. To make it worse - my mother was the accountant.

Since the poster is in the ATL, the appropriate phrase is "don't get your honey where you get your money".

I haven't been on many, but the first one was awful. I had mentioned my wife and I being poly and asked if it was ok with her blah blah before agreeing to meet up. Well, when we met up, she proceeded to scold me about how YOU'RE CHEATING ON YOUR WIFE YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED YOU'RE A BAD PERSON... It was a trap, I think. We hadn't ordered anything, and I just got up and left.

Ladies, I may need some advice soon. Hell landed at casa del rey yesterday. I spent my weekend working on the girlfriends house. In return she was going to help me clean mine. (Back story: I'm anal and keep a clean home. It stresses me for it to be messy. With the lifestyle I live I have very little time to get everything done, I rarely have time to sleep.) Long story short, her stuff got done, mine did not. I mentioned that it hurt my feelings that she could stand there and watch me clean but not jump in and help. This was a green light for her to go ballistic, interrupt me and never even really let me finish what I was trying to say. She ended up leaving, came back, left again, came back again and left me with my garage door opener. It seems that her personal responsibilities are more important than mine or spending time with me. I get that people should handle their business first, and I expect that; but it seems that her "stuff" never gets done and now it's taking precedence over spending time with me. We finally got a chance to talk and have decided to try to work things out. Problem is now I'm of the mindset of do I want to continue to do this? Almost 5 year invested, but this is the 4th time she has broken up with me over trivial shit in 5 months. I'd much rather be with someone who can verbally discuss problems and work past them willingly versus going the break up route right off the bat.
