2018 M550 52K miles

Drained and filled the front differential. The old fluid was dark and dirty. I used Redline 75W85 gear oil. Rear differential fluid was like brand new so I left it there. Also changed the transmission fluid (5.5L) and the transmission pan/filter. I used the ZF fluid and pan. I did notice that the transmission was shifting smoother after the change.

Like ezaircon4jc said, it's very easy to hit high speeds in these things without noticing. I've never gone that fast so I was kind of shaken up from all the coke in my veins. Oh wait sorry, from the adrenaline.

After I got my 2012 535i in 2015 I was trying to pass a left lane hog. Every time I went to pass in the #2 lane, he'd speed up. After a couple times of this I got really exasperated and said to myself the heck with it! I went to go around him saw him speed up and punched it. When I got back into the left lane and lifted, I was passing through 105! I have no idea how fast I got; that N55 just went! This B58 is just that much better!

I haven’t set it to start in Sport mode because Sport mode tempts me to drive a certain way and I’d rather let the car warm up properly and bring up the oil temp before I get too heavy of a foot.

Speaking of - I also coded in the sport display that will show the oil temp. And now have that preset number 1. My first three presets are Sport Display, Apple CarPlay, and Tire Pressure.

I also coded off the fake engine noise, drivers seatbelt chime, start up warning screen, and maybe a couple others I’m forgetting. Bimmercode is a cool thing.

I also have the default start to comfort. I don’t want Sport to become the norm. I generally drive in comfort with shifter left. When I want spirited driving, I then make the switch.

comfort is too bouncy for me, it's great 99% of the time and then that one bump makes it either bounce around, sometimes it even bottoms out. since it's not my DD i start it in Sport Individual

Had my oil changed and coolant expansion tank replaced. Under warranty.

Y’all may want to go to the F90 board and read about the stop sale and TSB on the M8 and M5 from 2019-2022. It’s for the expansion tank. They have a different part number I think, but same issue. Leaking, often from the seam, and sometimes causing issues with the injectors.

Obviously we’ve seen plenty of those here, too. I’m just the latest victim. I wonder if there will eventually be a TSB or even stop sale on M550 and M850? At least it means they have a new part they think will remedy the issue. But unless it’s a seamless tank or significant change in the adhesive, I don’t see how it makes a lasting improvement.

i booked a resonator delete and decided i didn't want it to growl and chickened out

well actually i didn't want the shop to put dirty dirt on my seat and steering wheel, but also i think i want the hushed nastiness of the exhaust vs in your face growl

Don’t hold your breath on this one. Expansion tank failures on BMW’s has been an issue since the late 90’s. It’s one of those things they call wear and tear. It is interesting how they go about their thought process and extend warranties. I don’t even think when they upgrade parts because of weakness this triggers an extension (turbo coolant lines), but they extend the warranty on the thermostat and active grills.

Took her to get the headlights tinted. Bought the Vvivid light smoke wrap and had my guy install it. My tint guy was reluctant to do it as he said in the long term it can damage the headlights in this Florida sun. But I think I’ll keep it for a few months for fun then remove it. She is garage kept so I’m not too worried.

Is the front splitter OEM or aftermarket? How is the fitment and quality? Provide a link please.

Replaced the kidney grill with a gloss black one and added the Grill M stripes.

Aftermarket, cheap one from eBay but it looks great and the figment was good. Holes align with the existing clips and screws. I drilled in 2 more screws just to be safe and it comes with some pretty strong double sided tape.

The one I got it out of stock from the seller, but this one looks identifical.

Yes mine is a 3 piece. Can’t really tell once installed, looks like a regular curve/bend.

I washed it last week Tuesday, I think. I forgot when I washed it

It gets super dusty in the garage. Good thing the temperatures aren't droping below freezing now so I can hand wash it at home and not worry about busting a pipe.

I have been taking mine to work, including today in the rain, which I normally would not do, but we are about a week or so away from fucking pollen season and I want to drive it. I would rather not drive it than to get in a green car after work. Pollen season here is just incredible.

Pollen season started here about two weeks ago and is just now starting to taper off...but we have a couple more weeks at least. Its awful. My daily E39 540 is covered in pollen sitting outside....and my renter (I have a mother in law apt) washed her Toyota Highlander in my driveway last weekend with my garage door open..it was super windy and now both my Ferrari and M550iX are covered in a nice layer of pollen. Will need to pull them out, hose them off and wipe them down.
