Massaging Seats
Hey guys, is anyone else as underwhelmed with the massaging seats as I am? I thought the massaging function would be more pronounced. I feel like I wasted $1,000 on that option

bankerboyz That would be me. I am underwhelmed. I got this option again (had it on 2018) cause my wife likes it.

Given the choice I would not pay $1000 for them, perhaps $500 I would bite. Thing about it is some owners have said these seats are more comfortable without the massage bladders inside. Pre-LCI massaging seats were bundled in a Luxury Seating Package. Really wish the seat ventilation was better too, but that's a whole other thread.

I haven’t used these types of seats in other cars to yardstick against, but for me they fit the reason I bought them so I am happy with them. I often go on long drives (in the before times) and the massage helps on that front. It doesn’t make me super relaxed and ready for a nap like a big massage chair, but I am driving so I shouldn’t be sleeping!
The way I see it this feature is purely about reducing fatigue and increasing circulation to prevent blood clots. Helps you go a bit longer before you need to stop and do yoga to feel your legs again! |

I think they work just fine for what they are. I primarily use the upper body setting on lowest pressure. Don’t need something to put me to sleep, I like the Shiatsu-type of motion, and thank god they didn’t include vibration, which I don’t like at all. The cabin is so quiet on a nice road that my biggest complaint is the noises that are associated with the system from the bladders inflating and deflating. Guess I just have to turn up the music more. Happy driving!

I actually like them. Try them with the seat heating (Level1) so it will give a better experience

I have them in my 530e and they are about as powerful as they were in my E350e - not very ! I found in both cars to get a benefit you have to be in very light clothing so no jumpers.

If you are expecting an experience like the spa, no way. But for what they are, it feels really good at age 71, after walking 18 holes of golf, to get a little massage on the way home. Well worth it to me. Although, I do think my wife's Merc does a little better job.

Looks like us two are the only ones underwhelmed!! A few mates of mine who have sat in the front passenger seat were also disappointed. The massaging seats in the Range Rover Velar somehow feels more functional.

Exactly my point. I was expecting a more powerful massage. Even without wearing a jumper(sweater for my American mates), and light clothing, I still find the experience not worth the amount charged for the option.

I find the massaging functions a bit gimmicky. However I like the activation modes on long drives. I had a 550 mile drive across Florida with terrible gridlock through Orlando this week, and with the full activation modes gently changing pressure I felt no fatigue or stiffness. The tradeoff is that I always feel like I am sitting "on" the seats, not "in" them.

Also thinking that this damn ventilation is good now in winter, but might suck in the summer (or anywhere in the south) |

Worksfine in the South. Just realize that it is not a powerhouse. But, after walking 18 holes on a July day, it immediately starts to cool my wet shirt and shorts as I drive home.

With my bad back, the massage seats move the position enough so that on a long drive my back does not tighten up. I think they are a worthwhile option.

Agreed, after 3 lower back operations this 50 year old back gets fatigued during long rides. I find it creates enough circulation to prolong any numbness in my glutes. No, it isn't a powerful massage but for what it is I like it a lot.

I like mine but I live in the greater Phoenix area so I am always wearing light clothing.
