Since you say you have an OBD II reader…make sure that you have the ignition in the correct setting. The new BMWs with the START buttons can be tricky at times in regards to the correct ignition position. In the past, I think OBD II hook up required the ignition to be in either KLR (ignition position 1) or KL 30 (ignition position 2)…but now with the START button…it may require a specific sequence pressing the START button to be able to read OBD II codes.
