I purchased my M550 with out the surround overhead view. Dealer is telling me it can't be installed. Thoughts? I would need front camera and R/L mirror cameras installed? Worth it?

Dealer usually won't touch most retrofits that aren't BMW-approved. I did this on my F30 a few years ago, and total cost was about $1200-1300, but that required 4 cameras instead of 3 and I used cheap LVDS cable from China and recycled cameras/control unit, which may be tougher to find for the G30 since its relatively new. The rest is a matter of figuring out how to run the wiring in the car, and then just coding.

As far as worth, I love it on my F30, and to me it was worth the price. It makes parking alongside curbs much easier without worrying about scraping the rims. I will definitely be getting it on my G30 when I order it later this year.

My 550i did not come with this either as I bought it off the lot because I figured at a sticker of $86,000 it should at least have that option. My 535i had it and I loved it for parking but I have gotten used to just using the sonar sensor to park in garage and have to pull in real slow up to curbs before it beeps before going over them or hitting them. I have the full driving assistance package, I think it helps and the rearview camera is very clear. I think if yours is equipped the same it's not worth getting all the cameras installed.
