Suspension Parts Now Fitted...

I had the suspension "upgrades" fitted today by a BMW Specialist. The aim was to improve the handling and drivability more - that has definitely been achieved. From the drive home, it's very noticeable that the steering is more direct with a feeling of it being sharper and tight. Turn in has also improved (stiffer and sharper) and driving round bends - the increased rigidity is definitely felt.

Parts List:
F90 Comp Front ARB/Sway Bar
F90 Comp Rear ARB/Sway Bar
F90 Front End Links
G30 Rear End Links
F90 Cross Member
F90 Cross Strut/X Brace
F90 Strut Brace Front (already fitted)
F90 Underbody Panels
Rear Flex Disc
Rear Camber Control Link
Remus Midpipe

The biggest changes come from the F90 ARBs (Front has gone from 24mm to 30mm, the Rear has gone from 18mm to 32mm) the weight in themselves is a clear indication of this too.

With the bracing and reinforcements, there is more emphasis on the rear as on the G30 - the sub frame is on bushings, where as the front sub frame is not.

To further add to this, the next steps would be to look at the F90 front tension struts and the rear toe arms.

Replacing the cracked and damaged Rear Flex Disc has also contributed to a positive effect (from what I can tell and feel), the little vibration that was felt while driving has now gone.

I think the Remus Mid Pipe will take some time to settle in, I know the Remus Axelback I have sounded better as time went on and the more I drove it (intially). I'll get some sound clips soon.

Very pleased how this has turned out. I look forward to pushing the car more to see where the limits are. It's more of a pleasure to drive now, especially on a fresh set of 19" Sport Contact 7 tyres.

On a side note, removing the 2 vibration dampeners and rear ARB brackets, it's saved 6.1kg in weight 😆

Stamped steel suspension parts? I am soooooooooooooo disappointed! I expected aluminum. I'm pretty sure my F10 has aluminum, but its been a while since I was under there.

On the 8 series, there's a part where the cross brace gets installed. It looks like a mini brace, going from the subframe to the outside body frame? I'm assuming that'll come off and the cross brace goes on.

5" Super Sports Cat (Downpipe)

First of the Black Friday purchases has landed. A 5" Osprey Performance Super Sports Cat. I've heard very good things about the Osprey Downpipes and have had my eye on this for a while. 20% off last week made the purchase even better.

200 cell which is the same as my VRSF one but a bigger 5" tube on this one, stepping down to a 4". This matches the flow of a decat downpipe so there's no more compromise on power with this sports cat, in theory.

This is the first piece of the puzzle, for the next lot of power modifications for my build.

I've followed Chris's work on Instagram for a while and more recently his YouTube channel - he truly knows his stuff. The attention to detail and the effort that goes into his fabrication work is second to none. This looks like a piece of art!

Exhaust Swing Supports

Ended up swapping out the rubber swing supports, that hold up the Remus axel back section of the exhaust today. I noticed a few weeks ago that the passenger side exhaust tips were sitting more inwards compared to the right hand side.

I knew it wasn't the tips as I haven't adjusted them and they are securely bolted on.

Turns out the rubber was quite worn and had started to split. They were cheap enough from main dealer so I swapped out both.

My OCD wouldn't allow me to work on a dirty car so gave it a quick (2.5 hour &#128516 clean before getting underneath it.

Anyhow, clean car and issue resolved = a good day!

Part number for the rubber support is 18308635587

Congratulations on the project, the whole thing looks phenomenal. It's hard to take your eyes off it, it's probably even more interesting live on the street ... Beautiful.

I used the same diffuser. My m550i tail pipes are too wide for other diffusers that fit G30 models and the M5 version is different with the bumper. I found this one and had to Michael Myers the exhaust tip openings with a kitchen knife to get it to fit the m550i. Should fit all other G30 models with ease. I also was having trouble fitting the bottom. Will have to figure it out but the main part is on the car and looks great!

LCI Tail Lights...

After having these delivered and lots of rain all week, there was some sunshine today so took the opportunity to fit the LCI tail lights!

For this modification, there is 2 options - OEM retrofit by a specialist/BMW dealer or an aftermarket plug and play. From.what I understand, the OEM option involves the car to be updated, coded and an additonal wire to be run and repinned. Straight away this option was a no for me as I don't want the software to be update on this car and risk my DME being locked for any tuning. If the OEM lights were plug and play then I would of jumped on these!

So to me, my only option was the aftermarket route. I've watched these lights sell on various platforms and they have sold alot - all with mainly positive reviews.

It's always a risk with going down this route but I chanced it - made an offer to the seller and they accepted.

The Install - It wasn't too bad stripping the car down. Took my time and also used masking tape around the lights to avoid any paintwork damage.

Really happy with the way it looks now. You don't see many Bluestone Metallic cars in an LCI, let alone these lights - a nice refresh to the back of the car.

I'm going to order the Golden Wrench Blackline Overlay Kit for the reverse/rear fog light lens. Had this on my original lights and think it finishes the lights off nicely

Running the wire to connect the 2 lights on each side together - [...]

Car is gorgeous! I have a pre LCI m550i and looking to do the tail light update... Can you post a link where you purchased them. The link doesn't seem to be working. Thanks in advance!

The link on that post was to the Golden Wrench website for the tint sticker on the reverse light lens. I got the lights from ebay. I just checked and the seller is no longer on there. I have found a seller on AliExpress who has sold around 245 sets and has lots of good reviews... maybe take a look at this one:

https://a.aliexpress.com/_mqfIOZa

I would recommend getting the LCI OEM drip trays and gutters from BMW. They fit a lot better than the aftermarket ones and the oem rubber had a better feel and quality to it. Let me know if you need the part numbers for the 4 pieces and I'll dig them out. I might have posted them on a previous post on this thread too.

Car was in with Spires Tuning this afternoon to dial in the Alignment and a Fast Road setup.

The underside and suspension was also given a check over and there were no issues found. I wanted to make sure everything was okay under there after having all the F90 M5 suspension bits fitted but mainly due to also have the driver side rear camber control link replaced - this required yhe car to have the alignment re-done again.

I spent a lot of time researching who to take the car to - Spires is the name that kept popping up in conversations. The owner Matt is very knowledgeable and definitely knows what he is talking about and doing. After a conversation with Matt about my driving style, what I wanted and what could be done, he was able to dial in my requirements.

The drive home did not disappoint... a much more enjoyable and engaging drive which gives you the confidence to push on (even with this very wet weather today &#127783

Your car is freaking awesome! I'm doing a lot of the same things you are, on mine. Nothing, really, is installed yet. Bad timing, with the seasons. Once the weather starts getting warmer, a lot of changes are going to happen. Mine's in Dark Graphite Metallic, though.
