How to remove swirls

Hey guys,

I bought a used BMW 530i. I tried to wax it but I think I used the wrong pad. If you look close, they have some swirls in the paint now. I had a guy to wax it and he told me that I had ceramic coat on the car and shouldn't have use the buffing machine on the car. Did I mess up the ceramic coat? How do I remove the swirls? I've tried VSS Swirl removal and C4 Clear Cut Correction Compound by chemical guys on a small section of my trunk by hand and the swirls are still there. I though about trying Maguires swirl remover also. Any recommendations. My final solution would be to bring it to a detail shop and let them do it. Thanks.

What polisher and pad are you using? BMW paint is pretty hard. I use a Rupes 15LR w/their fine pad but coarse Rupes polish for the first pass.

Watch some of the how to videos on Autogeek. I think you'll find what you need there.

I used a rotary polisher with the orange pad. I ordered more pads. so i will try again and take my time.

multiple light passes are better than one heavy pass. Take your time. Rotary polishers can produce holographing so be careful (or did you mean a random orbit polisher?).

It's a PITA while you're doing it but the results are very satisfying.
