F10 550I LCI or 2017 G30 540I
Hello,
I have been debating purchasing between 2017 G30 540i Msport package and 2016 F10 550i Fully optioned with the 3rd party warranty. which one would you guys recommend? both cars have 52-54K miles. Any advice would be appreciated! Last edited by BKPark; 03-28-2022 at 08:33 AM.. |

As much as I loved my F10, the G30 is far superior in terms of fit, finish and technology. The interior quality of the G30 is head and shoulders above the F10. Plus, the F10 is looking dated. In a year or so, the F10 will be two generations behind.
I had a 535xi, but you may want to do some homework on the N63 in the 2016. If it is a TU2 then you are probably OK (I think it is), but the N63TU was very problematic. The only way I would consider the F10 550i is if it was a 6 speed, which is rare.

Whilst I've not owned a f10 550, I did have a f10 530d and now have a g30 540ixdrive
Echo comments that the g30 is a better car. Difficult to put my finger on any one thing but everything just feels that bit better. Looks wise I think the g30 is a better looking car even if it's regarded as an evolution of the f10 Not sure what market you are in but there is obviously the g30 550 aswell but in pre LCI models , looks like it was not available for right hand drive markets |

I'd go for the G30 540i as its a newer look as mentioned. The features updated is worth it to me. In terms of power, not much needed to get the 540 to 550 power.
Im also a bit biased as I own a g30 so yea lol. Got any pics of your two options? |

Although I have a G30 m550, between the 2 options I would go for the G30 even with the warranty. I don't want to be down in the case of an engine event on the older n63's and worry about dealing with the warranty.
I think this is the 540 model without the "mild hybrid" complexity. |

Stick with the G30 540 search. You can definitely score a '17 Sport for that budget. Maybe an '18.

Skip the G30 540i because it has the M stripped grille…
In all seriousness, I would say go for the G30 540i because of its lower mileage as well as the new features and feel. I have a 2011 F10 Pre-LCI 535xi before going to the 2021 G30 LCI M550xi, and I noticed the superb increases in quality and technology. I have a friend who owns a 2019 G30 Pre-LCI, and the 6 cylinder is super smooth, with honestly a good amount of power. You can drive that thing like a brute, and still have a fun time. Edit: I just spun the car around and noticed that it said 540iM. It had an M badge after 540i…

Yep, the prior owner of that 540 was definitely a tacky cheese ball. Good god.

You could buy a car health monitor. It plugs into the OBD port and tells you every little piece of information about the car's health.
