CEL and active shutters

This morning when I started my car my check engine light came on and my active shutters are stuck in the open position. I have seen the same issue in prior posts. I am under warranty but can't get to the dealership for a couple of days. Am I okay to drive it temporarily?

yes. It just means you won't be getting the car up to temp as quickly.

Go to AutoZone or a place like that and get an ODB sensor. There's tons of apps available that will tell you exactly what the code is and you can even clear it. I really wouldn't worry about it too much. It might go away on its own. Also check for a loose gas cap.

Yes, it is ok to drive it.
That active shutters is mainly for aerodynamic purposes.
I never got issue with mine since I removed it.

My upper and lower active shutters were replaced under warranty today. SA stated he has seen a steady stream of 5 series, X3's ans X5's with the same issue.

I noticed the lower sometimes get error when you take car to automatic car wash. Where engine must be keep on.

Getting stuck in open position (blockage dtc). Stop using automatic car wash where engine must be keep on. I think when sensor read cold temp and try to close them but pressure water gives pressure on while closing.. it throw dtc (shutters blockage).

I got the dreaded CEL yesterday. I have 22,850 miles on my 2019 BMW 540i. It was on for 4 drive cycles then it went out. For those who don't know a drive cycle is when you startup, drive and then shut off your BMW. I took my baby to the Dealership still under warranty. After waiting for 45 minutes the SA called me and said we are going to put you in a brand new Loaner X5. Your active shutters are not working correctly. We can't let you drive this auto because you could overheat your engine if the shutters stay closed. It is Saturday and we cannot get the parts ordered until Monday. Then we should get the parts on Tuesday afternoon. We will install them on Wednesday. A very professional SA. He also told me that they have replaced a lot of Active Shutters. I had read the forums before I went there so I mentioned that it might be active shutters.
So I get to drive an X5 until they fix my ride. Now let's see if he calls me when it's fixed.

Of course he will call you when it's fixed. He's incentivized to get you in and out as quickly as possible so he gets paid. BMW will not pay them for the warranty until it has been closed out. And the service advisors make a commission off the parts sold. Happy it's going to be a quick turnaround time for you!

I had the same issue on my G12 750i. Brand new shutter that failed two weeks later. They got it replaced within two days. X7 M Sport loaner.
