540i Fog Light Delete (M550i Grilles and Finishers Fitted)

G30 Aero Retrofit Parts fitted yesterday to my 540i... in essence, it's a fog light delete kit. I've always thought the fog lights looks out of place on the front of a G30 (maybe BMW themselves had the same idea, as the LCI cars now don't have fog lights on the front either). OEM Parts were german ordered via a local BMW dealer and I had the Cerium Grey finisher trims painted gloss black by their bodyshop. Turn around from them was 6 days which was great!

I think it looks more aggressive and cleaner, especially with the beefier finisher trims.

Install was a bumper off job in the end, bit of a pain but worth it I think!

No errors with the fog lights disconnected but I will code out with BimmerCode. Wiring taped up and secured behind the bumper.

Next job is to remove the active grill shutters or keep them open!

That's really nice! great job! Question, is the old finisher any different from the new one? or would that be necessary once the fog is deleted?

I'm a 90s kid, so I'll always have a soft spot for fog lights, but the delete looks good and makes for a simpler front end. I had read several places that manufacturers stopped installing fog lights (regardless of trim) the past decade or so since advances in headlight tech just made the fogs pretty redundant.

Thank you

The new finisher is a bit different from the old one. (Old on the left and new one on the right) It has more depth to it and looks more aggressive

I did however find out afterwards that I could of got away with using the old finishers with the new grilles. I do prefer the look of the new trims though

BMW themselves don't put fog lights on the F90 M5 or the m550i/d. Straight out the factory with that more aggressive look.

All G30 LCI's also now don't have fog lights either - this is probably in line with what you have read.

Yes! With things like matrix and laser headlights - that seems to be the way forward on new cars.

I've been thinking about doing the same mod. IMO it gives the front end of the car a much more aggressive "stronger" look. I'm definitely going to do this mod.

Thanks !

Very interesting project! Thanks for this feedback.

Two questions though:
1) did you omit to add the left cover grille (51118063423) on purpose? (Right side doesn’t seem to exist for some reason)
2) even without the fog lights did you have to use the support for them? (Left: 51118064967, Right: 51118064968)

1) Yes, I didn't want to buy it for just one side as we in the UK don't have the auxiliary radiator so it would of looked odd just having the left cover but then nothing on the other side. I did look for a right hand side one but found that non UK cars seem to have that aux radiator there.

2) I left the supports in, but cut the bit of plastic running across, where the bottom of the fog light was. I initially left it but you could see it through the grill. I just cut it off with snips.

Your G30 is truly magnificent! Sober but very eye-pleasing.

Regarding my question about the fog light supports, my approach is different as my aim is to convert my Luxury bumper which doesn't have fog lights from factory to the M-Sport one (still w/o fog lights), therefore I'm wondering if said fog light supports are really necessary in case fog lights are absent.

What do you reckon?

issues after install on an f90 front bumper on a 2020 g30 prelci

Hi guys!
so this is my first post! today I and my brother was done putting on the bumper we made transfer all of the components from the m sport original bumper. now after we plugged in everything all of the parking sensors works at expected. But i get this Pedestrian Alert system error on my Idrive. and also its greyed out. Any idea? this is my first major modification and i am already scared. is there a way to code it out? or will it go to normal by itself?
also i did foglight delete, and plugged in those yellow ballast that comes with the kit, that makes the car think they are connected.

Any Help would be appreciated!
