Hey guys. No idea what I did not how I get back to full screen when I engage reverse but somehow I now have half screen backup camera and half with the pdc warning with the car and green yellow red line settings. Anyone know how to get back to full screen backup camera. I don’t have split screen enabled.

Hit the camera button next to the shifter and drive mode selector, etc. You can hit the button to switch camera views.

Ughh unfortunately neither suggestion worked. I even tried holding in the volume button for 20 seconds to reboot idrive. Any other ideas?

Is it under warranty? If so, just make it the dealership's problem. If not, I'm not sure what else you should do but I understand wanting to exhaust all options first.

There’s got to be a way to make it go back to full screen. But yes. Worse case I’ll make it the dealerships issue.

I agree, there should be a way. But if the buttons aren't working, I don't know. Thought maybe it's a software bug.

So I checked too - and honestly, I don't recall it ever being full screen - iDrive 6.
Unless you did some custom coding...?

So I think this is the screen you're on (see picture). I really think I've seen mine be full screen rear camera, but I couldn't get it there sitting in my garage. I don't want to get the car out to play with it, but maybe you need to actually be in "reverse" gear and then play with the button with the camera icon that I mentioned before. I'll try and remember to mess with it tomorrow.

Got it! Is the picture below what you're trying to achieve? As I suspected, I had to be in gear (with parking cameras activated) in order to get the full screen. The default when you hit the "P" button in the console to turn on parking cameras is the split screen. When you're in gear and that is activated, hit the button with a camera on it to switch views. If that doesn't work, it's probably malfunctioning.

Well mine is a 2018. I think it's one of the options that's been trimmed out for lack of chips, supply chain, blah blah.

So you don't even have a backup camera??

I haven’t attempted to replicate this view on loaners I’ve had without the 360 camera setup, but I don’t think it is possible. The 360 degree camera setup has different cameras for the backup camera.

On the cars with surround view cameras (360 degree camera) BMW placed a wide angle camera in the front and rear. I haven’t looked at them to confirm if they are motorized as well or if they simply use software cropping to make them seem motorized, but the cameras also are steering adaptive. The view you showed earlier is one where you’re able to access that full wide angle to aid you in pulling out of a parking space by giving you a field of view that exceeds what you’d otherwise have.

It is one of the reasons why I always say the Parking Assistance Pack is a must have on the car. People skip it often thinking “I don’t care for the car parking itself”, but the camera and sensors are well worth the cost. The basic backup camera sucks IMHO. It not only lacks steering adaptation, but it is also lower resolution and since it isn’t a wide angle has a worse field of view. So you’re worse off all around skipping the package IMHO.

For $800 it's a pretty worth while package. I've never tried to have the car park itself. But I find the cameras and sensors very valuable parking in our garage (it's tight with two cars… will be even tighter when we we find my wife an X7). And the overhead view is nice, also.

I’ve used the self parking and it is fine, but I think that’s the part that gets lost in the shuffle. It was a no-brainer for me after watching a few videos on the 360 degree cameras when I was ordering (and my wife wanted the self parking). But once I got a loaner without it I noticed the difference immediately.

You’d expect the cars with and without the package would have the same backup cameras, but sadly they don’t. The steering adjustment for the cameras is extremely helpful in tight situations. And even more so, if you set the cameras in “A” mode the car will automatically flip to a view that almost looks like you are outside the car looking at any tight angle. So you can really get in without trouble. My only complaint is that you can’t set “Auto” (“A”) mode as the default.

IMHO it should be standard on the car, but we can say that about many many options.

I got one it just doesn't go full screen. Half screen is the parking sensors and half screen is camera.

Agreed but your directions were simple enough. I think you need zeh parking assist package to get full screen.
