Lens prices going crazy.

The Canon 70-200mm f4L was $674 on Amazon this morning and similarly priced elsewhere. Now it's $709 most places. I'd heard that the nightmare in Japan was going to affect the price of anything made there, but a $35 jump on one day is a bit much. I think the IS version jumped $50 or $60 today.

Cameras, too. The 60D is up $100 over last week (unless some instant rebate just ended).

Canon prices go up all the time, nothing new. The 70-200mm 2.8 IS was about $1400-1500 a few years ago. Now it's $1650+. The new 2.8 IS is like $2300. Crazy...

70-200 F2.8L IS II is up to $2475... really happy now I copped mine back in January when it was $2070

1D Mark IV is up from $4799 at most retailers to full MSRP of $4999

It's that and also because of concerns over supply constraints due to the quake and tsunami. Canon's Utsunomiya plant took a lot of damage.

Nobody can complain about camera/lens pricing until they ditch their DSLR gear and move to Leica like me.
