Theres alot more info on higher end vehicles. I was reading about the ferraris yesterday. The maintenance isnt as high as people anticipate and anyway, if you can afford a 200K car, Im pretty sure you can shell out $1,000 for an oil change.

If it's supposed to be a weekend car then your dad, impo, should get something that rare, but bonkers. Cars like Bentely CGT or even the R8 don't do that kind of things. There just really fast cars that you can use everyday.

I think the days of the Gallardo are over since the new one is coming, so what's the point of spending 200K on a whip that's already "outdated". Same thing with the F430.

Again, impho, GT3 RS or MB CLK 63 AMG Black series, are great cars that you can still find with less than a 1,000 or even 500 miles on them, and noone will ever tell you that you that you're cheap b/c you bought a used Ferrari(b/c i don't think you can find a decent one for under 200 K)

My dream car is an Aston Martin DBS, but that's way out of your dad's price range.
Good luck and keep us posted!!!

The new Gallardo (LP560) is already out.
Tell your dad to get that.

The standard F430 you suggested is an old car now, yes there are updates such as the Scuderia but if your dad really has that kind of money I would go for the new Gallardo LP560-4.

We both love the LP-560, and its the only car he's willing to go over 200k for but the wait on it is about 9 months according to the LI dealer.

(hes considering waiting the 9 months)

All fine cars so it's a tough choice. I would go with either the Lambo or the Aston Martin.

I remember by dad wanting to get a weekend car having a Cayenne Turbo and E63 as his daily drivers... I also remember him having dinner with the president of Lamborghini the night before Concorso Italiano in 2007 and the president offering my dad a bump to the front of the line on any Lamborghini model he wanted and he could customize.

My dad's rational was, why buy a car that you're barely going to drive, everywhere you go, people are just going to gawk and stare at you, and will depreciate quite a bit. His "compromise?" A 997 Turbo. Great performance, much better price, every day driveability, and people don't gawk at you as much.

Challenge Stradales are holding their value quite nicely. Most are actually rising in price because of the Scuderia (i thought it would be the other way around).
