Bimmercode

Hi all. Just a quick question about using bimmercode. I was reading the directions on their website and says “turn ignition on”. Does that mean we should start the car or just have it in accessory mode without the car being started?

In my e92, I did the coding in accessory mode without starting the car. Wasn’t sure if it was the same for the g30.

Thanks!

Do not start the car, just press the start button without applying the brake pedal and that's it.

For the G30, you actually need to tap the ignition button quickly 3 times and you are on your way. No foot on the brake and you should be good to go when a diagnostics mode message comes up below the tach.

Not sure this is necessary as mine goes into diagnostic mode as soon as bimmercode is connected anyway, in normal ignition on mode

Just did some coding. Boy some of those modules do take a long time! I just coded the auto start stop memory and remembering the transmission setting!

Just one thing for others to keep in mind. I switched to the M display on the instrument cluster but then decided to go back to the BMW one. I lost the m550 logo and couldn’t find how to change it even with expert coding. Ended up reverting from a backup

You say you coded to remember the transmission setting - I assume you mean the Driving Mode Default?

I used Bimmercode for the first time today. Using a OBDlink CX in my 2021 M550. I successfully coded the Auto Stop Start memory - it worked fine. I also wanted to code the Default Driving Mode to Adaptive. However, I went into Instrument Cluster section and I did not see the selection for Driving Mode. Did you find it in another place?

Thanks.

I found the Driving Mode options in the Body Domain Controller section. I coded it this morning to default to Adaptive. Using Bimmercode with OBDlink was quick and easy!

Yes! As carbo56 said, I also found mine in the BDC section. Worked like a charm

FYI, if you feel like it's taking forever to code, use an OBD2 to Ethernet and Ethernet to mobile phone connection. When directly connecting to the OBD port via wire everything is lightning fast.

Which OBDlink did you use and where did you buy it?

You don't actually have to do this with bimmercode and a dongle. Once is sufficient. Once the OBD port is acknowledged the car stays in the right mode. For coding with a coder, three times for sure once your laptop is plugged in.

Where did you see the option for M display on cluster? Only option I could find was Alpina mode

What do you mean by remembering transmission setting? It is part of the drive modes. Do you mean changing the default drive mode?

Also do you have iD7? M display is not possible to code on iD6 cars if you achived that on pre-LCI car please let me know

Yeah I do both. Cable is fast but sometimes throws errors.
