So my car has wireless apple carplay and whenever a text messages pops up, the screen changes to the carplay screen with the notification, then it goes back to the menu you are usually in, for example, map, radio, etc.

Is there anyway to cancel the change in screens perhaps?

I don't think so. The degree to which CarPlay hijacks iDrive seems to be uncontrollable and unpredictable. When I get a text message and CarPlay pops up, I have to manually change the audio source back to whatever non-CarPlay source I has been using after responding to the text.

I think iOS 12 is meant to fix some of these issues. Not 100% sure but that's what I've heard.

Thank goodness mine doesn't highjack the audio source. It keeps playing in the background.
