540i X-Drive Fuel consumption
Still blown away with the good fuel consumption of a 3 lit 6 cylinder 4 wheel drive petrol engine car.
2200 miles in and the 1800 mile moving average hit 32mpg today and today's run on motorways, 1hr 3 mins, 65 miles, ave speed 64.8mph gave 38.7mpg using Eco mode for 90% of the time. Way better than any other 3 lit fwd petrol engine car i have ever owned. Still struggling to get the perfect driving position though |

Yes it sips fuel if you want it to. Thirsty around town not surprisingly though. I got 18mpg on a short 2 mile journey ( cold engine) which is I guess to be expected.
5000miles on mine now average 33.9 mpg (imperial) to date with my best journey being 48mpg which is incredible but far from realistic in the real world. ( long slow motorway journey with no traffic) Amazing engine though but I think credit also has to be given to the gearbox. Seats yeh took me a couple of weeks to get my ideal setup with comfort seats |

My last 190 miles I got 33 MPG, car has done 2080 miles now, impressed.
I have averaged 30 MPG mainly to date though, ~I like booting it some. Mostly out of town driving. I do London trips which are through the centre, still average 30 MPG, that's when I put the car in Eco-crap mode through the City. This sports Exhaust really sounds great now, like a Ferrari.

Just for comparison, similar trip today, same road, same mileage, slightly more traffic and a quick petrol stop, so a 1hr 9min drive with an average speed of 59.3mph.
This time i used Adaptive drive 100% of the time with a resulting 39.1mpg. Can't complain about that and none of the sluggish Eco mode throttle response |
