Thanks for all your comments.
Infuriating to say the least.

What a mindless and costly act of vandalism.

My daughter had a tree branch fall across the trunk on our old E60 535 and put 3 long scratches down to primer. I used Dr. Colorchip and, surprisingly, it was impossible to find the scratches after I finished the job. I partially filled each scratch & let dry, and then repeated. After that, I hand polished and was done. Lot of work, but about $20 bucks.

Good luck

Wow. But I'm guessing op (like me) wants to give a bit more of a 'make it like new' treatment to his car.

Please let us know how much the dealers quote for this...

That is really expensive . I had my two month old m240i rear scratched to the metal (black metal showing) with other small scratches whilst parked at Tesco Car Park probably with a Trolley. The quote from a BMW marque was £800+ whilst anther one (Lloyd BMW) was £200+. They really did a good job with 3 year warranty.

So I am advising you should get a quote from another BMW approved bodyshop.

You need find a good shop beside the stealer and let them do their thing. In my experience a good pro can fix it without blending to side panels since its a newer car.

I know of a shop that fixes exotics... the guy just treats problem areas and rarely paints the whole panel. See if thats an option for you.

Thanks for the feedback - the quote made my eyes water a bit. Will have a look at my local body repair shops and see what they say.

Do not feel bad.....I am in the same boat. Had someone ding my car last week right on the rear quarter panel crease above the wheel well (of course they drove away). I did not even have a swirl mark on this car, yet. It barely scratched into the metal. I took it to the best paintless dent removal guy in the area and he said for the first time in his career he could not even get the ding to move....at all.

Needless to say, I will need to get the panel fixed and resprayed for what amounts to a door ding. I had a couple dealers quote me $1,500 but am taking it to a local independent who is going to do it for $950.

On my damage at least, every place said they would have to blend into the rear door as well.

This is why I park far away from other cars and prefer end corner spaces. Some people are careless scumbags.

Received a quote from Chips Away and they have priced it at £470 which included a full blend into the same panels as BMW stated. Unless anyone says otherwise I see no reason why I wouldn't choose this option.

Depends - Chips Away is a franchise (I believe) so a lot depends on the skill of the franchise holder. Be good to see some of his work on similar deep scratches, or some references.
