Preordered the Revenant for my F33. I can wait a month or two and save $100. Won’t have time to work on the car till March anyway.

I went ahead and installed my amp - easy to do, just a bit crowded. Need to take out the ‘tool box’. Not as powerful as I was expecting but is still an improvement. Still need to finish the rest os the install.

The gentleman who installed my door, subs and center channel speakers, who is a Bimmertech dealer, said he felt the Revenant produced a better overall sound and was a bit more powerful at 65w x 5ch and 160w x 2ch than the Bimmertech amp. He was not familiar with the BMW7amp. Overall it is a step up from the HiFi version. It does sound much better with the full Stage One setup in it.

So my question is if it's worth removing it from the F30, recoding it for the new owner (with the insanely limited time I have these days), and retrofitting it to my G30. Is the sound that much better? (Keeping in mind I had a base audio system in the F30 before so the difference was mind-blowing!)

I think the Revenant is a re-badged Match 7UP amp - all connections and outer button locations are the same

Is there a Plug-and-Play amplifier upgrade for the HK system?? I've seen the "add a sub amp" option, just wondering if there is anything else available??

The Revenant amp is made by the same folks that make the MATCH 7BMW amp. I was told it was not a 'rebadge' though.

Just ordered the identical Match Up 7BMW amp in Europe.
It came to 893USD (795eur), through a supplier on eBay. Looking forward to this upgrade. I don't think I'll bother with much else as I did with my F31 where I did a complete HU, stage 1, stage 2 and woofer replacement!

BAVSound had told me it is not identical to the MatchUp7 - some different parts and software - but made by same company. I also did the Stage 1 and subs - what was your Stage 2?

Either way, Bavsound will no longer sell to me in Europe (they did 4 years ago), and lately I'm not at all impressed with BimmerTech's prices. I'll also add the folks at Audiotec Fischer are lovely and more than happy to help with any queries.

The Revenant has tunes for two settings. Stock speakers and Bavsound speakers. The Match you can tune how you want.
After sitting on the desk for over two months I finally installed the Revenant. Took less than half an hour. Spent more time messing with the carpet. Overall, it is a definite improvement over stock hifi amp. I kept the stock speakers. My daughter commented on it today when she was driving. She said it sounded clearer and louder at a lower volume setting and she didn’t even know there were speakers under the seat till now. I finally put the top down (yay, it hit 60 degrees today) and it’s much better now. Even at freeway speeds. So mad at myself I didn’t install it as soon as I got it. |
