There are two headlight choices.

5A2 LED Headlights
552 ICON LED

If you do not have 552, then you will not have necessary hardware. If you are in any market, except USA or early model Canada, then it would be enabled from factory.

Wonder if anyone can help me at all. I have a 520d G30 with the standard headlights. Im looking at purchasing the Adaptive LED headlights & getting a local garage to retrofit them. (Also hoping someone on here can code it for me)

I've seen on this thread that it is technically possible to do, but how to i find out if my car is capable of the High Beam Assist? Im sure it has a camera at the front for the collision warning, but not sure if its part of the same system.

It might make me rethink my decision if i cant use the High Beam Assist. I bought the car second hand so unfortunately didn't have the option to order from factory.

Im sure i have the 5A2 headlights. Is there anyway to confirm this is the case.

Remove 5A2
Add 552 and 5AC
VO code FLM
Use ISTA+ to teach-in

Are you also adding turn signal stalk for HBA button?

On side of headlights it would say Adaptive LED. You can also decode VIN.

Headlights look correct. You need turn signal stalk with A button to activate. Do you have KAFAS or FLA camera?

My previous 2014 535D had adaptive headlights so I am looking to upgrade my 540 to Adaptive LED. Please do you know if retrofitting from standard led to adaptive led requires any additional hardware except headlights.

Icon Headlights + coding + ISTA+ initialization

If you want HBA, you also need drivers assist camera + windshield + turn signal stalk with HBA button.

If you know part number, you can also just search part.

S8S4A is to remove variable light distribution.
S5ACA is for HBA.

Do you have speed limit information? Frontal Collision Warning?

Excuse me but I’m very new to this. It sounds like for cars that have a lot safety features, it requires a lot than just the headlights. Well my car is very basic, it doesn’t have lane departure, speed limit, or front collision warning. Will my retrofit be just the headlights or does it still require coding?
