Wiper Blades for G30
I've always bought PIAA Super Silicone blades for my old cars which are hands down the best blades I've ever used, but sadly PIAA doesn't make them for G30 models yet. Rain-X just debuted their silicone blades and they fit the G30.
Had three questions: Has anyone used these new Rain-X silicone blades with their G30 and how does it compare to the Rain-X Latitude or other silicone blades that do fit the G30? Lastly, do you have a better blade you can recommend? Thanks! |

To be honest I have found the standard wiper blades to be very good . I use Rainx on the glass which I swear by so arguably the wipers don't get used as much as someone without using this type of product as on faster roads, I can get by without using them at all.
When they do wipe the screen , they leave a clear screen. Not sure that helps answer your question though. Are you having a particular issue or are the blades simply worn? |

I go with Bosch wipers and Aquapel repellant. Bosch wipers look to be the OEM, but sometimes loose effectiveness after < 12 months. Aquapel last longer than Rainx IMO, and doesn't cloud as much.

When doing the paperwork on my purchase the F&I guy told me the oem blades were $200. I said maybe this is not the car for me. No other off the cuff comments were made.

$45 no discount needed. Still expensive but nothing like what's in this thread.

They were designed for the car. I'd always go own for that fact. No complaints with blades from me and as previously mention with rainx on the glass they provide a clean view after every sweep. If they stop doing that then obviously time to change them.
That's my view anyway. |

I suspect the BMW wipers are Bosch Icon wipers - and you can get them at Autozone or some other local parts shop for $~25 / each.

What size are the wipers for the G30? Could not find it in the manual and haven't actually measured my car. The fit recommended for the G30 on Auto Zone for the Bosch Icon was a 19OE (19 inches). Are both blades the same length and would one therefore buy two 19OEs? (They are stupidly packaged one to a box and sold individually.) Or are there two different lengths? Thanks. --Bob

Yeah they are so used to quoting excessively high prices for everything the guy probably couldn't help himself. --Bob

OK I finally went down and measured the blade lengths. They are tip to tip: Driver side 25-3/4" and Passenger side 18-1/2". Doesn't quite correspond to the Rainex numbers but close. I looked up Autozone and found Bosch Icon blades for the 2019 540xi and they were Driver side 26OE (26" @ $28) and Passenger side 19OE (19" @ $24). I'm guessing they would fit and when it is time I will try them.--Bob

You can get the OEM blades for less at getbmwparts.com $45 for
Genuine BMW Wiper Blade Set - Part Number 61-61-2-447-932 Maybe Bosch Icon are better?

In my experience, OEM are best. They used to be made by siemens in Germany and are long lasting, ultra quiet and perfect fit. However unless bought on a special deal, they are very expensive.

Sounds like a good idea and a good price. Will keep them in mind. I tend to agree with others that the OEM blades are fine and while I have heard the Bosch Icon blades are good I do not have actual experience with them. Thanks--Bob

I have been doing this for years. If the wipers are 10 months old like yours, they should operate like new. If they don't, I would only suggest OEM wipers. I think though what I recommend will work.
