Taking the trash out with the 540i

Hello

Skiing vacation, so I thought I'd have some fun with the car (and gopro).
It has been snowing quite heavily, so approximately 30cms (12 in?) of fresh snow on top of old snow, the texture becomes a bit like driving in sand. In some places it was quite a lot deeper than that because of the wind blowing ridges...

I'm quite impressed by the Xdrive system. The tires do help, but I know my old 2wd BMWs would get stuck in 5 meters.

Half way in the video you'll see the big loaders clearing snow. Quite a few cars had problems out in the road.

Now, let's see how long it will take before some fool starts screaming "Audi's better" and produces a clip that starts with Steve Carell...

I wish I could get a G31. I still do not understand why BMW has completely abandoned wagons in the US. It isn't as if they don't make them. They just choose to deny them to the US.

Crash testing costs vs expected sales numbers. Since it's a different body I'm sure the NHTSA will require an entirely new set of crash tests that will cost BMW to perform (BMW personnel, NHTSA personnel and vehicles) and they probably expect that they would sell very few of them in the US.

Audi is doing the same (no Avants in the US), but there's rumors they're bringing the A6/RS6 Avant to the US. We'll see. If it does decently maybe BMW will bring a future 5 series wagon here.

Currently in the US in this size you could only get Volvo V90 or MB E450 (ignore AMG) at least MB E450 is available for test drive on the floor etc, I think when I went to Volvo they said I just have to order it blind, only thing ever available in stock was V90 Cross Country (and they said they have no intention to have V90 available on the lot, wonder how that's going to help the sale)
