Is the gesture camera control removed for 2019?

I have the full cameras and gesture control on my 2019 M550i - i'm able to activate gesture control but for the life of me I can't get it to work for the cameras. I've watched YouTube tutorials, etc, and still can't get it to work.

I've enabled the gesture tips, and notice that when I manually pan around the car with the camera it does not show the gesture tip, which is why I feel it's been removed when I see tips for all other gesture features when I manually do something that has a gesture as well.

mine works. I think you either need to be stopped, or the car in park

Mine works while the car is move under 21mph, I know this as I done it yesterday showing off to a mate 🤣.

You do have to move slow with your two fingers touching, slide from left to right or right to left stop open fingers about 1 inch move back to your start position and do it all over again.

I have it on my vehicle, and I find it relatively useless. For example, it's a lot more difficult to turn the volume up and down with your hand going in a circular motion than it is just to press the button on the steering wheel. It's like the remote control parking feature, it's cool to have to play around with, but not practical in real life.

It's flaky at best. In fact, my arm gets tired of waving it around in the air!

I am going to go to the dealer and have a genius look at it, it has to be messed up or something.

the only gesture control I use consistently is the self assign (which I set to turn radio off...) and volume up and down...

I found it pretty accurate and use it occasionally depending on the position of the steering wheel and my arm. I would suggest you give it a try just using your index (no hand movement) finger when your elbow is on the arm rest. Doing it slowly even lets you adjust the volume in small steps.

I also find it useful for rejecting and accepting calls.

It's still easier to use the button on the steering wheel. 0% failure rate!

Same here. Mute and unmute the radio all the time with it. As far as camera control, works fine on my '19, just checked. Forgot it was available to be honest.

The only real use for gestures control is showing off feature to friends and my son can change volume from passenger seat. Otherwise I agree steering wheel controls or volume knob is a lot easier. Maybe ignoring a phone call is useful but haven't tried that yet.

This

We mainly use it after getting home with my daughter in the car. She really enjoys playing with the camera views and moving the images around.

The only gesture control I use is a single middle digit on my left hand which I use to communicate with certain drivers I encounter who appear to have limited familiarity with the rules of the road.
