Garage List
Oil in the rear differential

oil in the rear differential

Best regards to all
Please, can someone explain to me what the difference is between;
75W-90 GL-5
and
75W-140 GL-5

for example:
Gear 300 LS 75W-90 - Motul
and
Gear Competition 75W-140 - Motul

Hypoid axle oil G3
Part number: 83222413512
SAE 70W-80 GL-5 is provided for my Bmw, do I gain or lose something with 75W-140 gl-5?
Somewhere it is listed as a possible option to put and 75W-140 so I ask!

Thanks to everyone for the answers in advance

Old thread but thought i would replay anyways, incase someone else wonders about the differences 75w90 is usually the correct grade of the standard rear open differential. If you have an LSD fitted it tends to need the 75w140
