My 2018 M550i is approaching 40,000 miles 39,590 this morning. No oil consumption, had my coolant lines replaced and the intercoolers. Ran it at the track last spring and ran 12.12@114.74. So far haven't had any issues with it.

Same as above- my '18 m550 had the inter cooler/oil line service bulletin completed about a year ago. I have over 40k miles and no problems with the car at all. This is the first time I've owned a car for more than a few years and not itching for something new. I'm interested in doing Dinan S-1 with exhaust to add a touch of grit and sound, but that's the extent of getting "bored" with this car.

just chop off the 4-resonators, you will have all the sound you need.

I'm looking for a well equipped 540i XDrive on the German market (no luck so far) but I've found a really nice M550i XDrive at our local Czech BMW dealer for basically the same price and I'm wondering if that would be a very risky purchase.

It has 70k km which is about 44k miles and there are still 2.5 years of extended warranty left. My questions are:

1. What should a potential buyer check in advance - have there been any global recalls that the car might have missed?

2. Are there any mods or special care that would help the engine last longer? (Besides more frequent oil changes, of course). I'd rather invest $1k in advance than have to replace the engine for $5k+.

3. Are there any stats regarding the average failure of these engines? I plan to keep it for another 20-30k miles. What are the changes of the engine surviving a total of 75k miles? :-D

(Also I'm driving mostly short distances (30 minutes to the city center) and I'm afraid that's not very good for the engine...).
I'm now looking at doing the same thing, a 2018 M550i. Did you go forward with this? How is it working out?

I have a 2018 M550 with just under 30k miles. Have never added oil between changes.

I've had similar issues with my 2018 M550. The charge coolers and lines have been replaced twice now and now just today I noticed a couple of drips of coolant on the garage floor again....Not sure why this is such an issue.

That is the only issue I've had with the car. Haven't tracked it, but am looking for a good tune recommendation that keeps it in the factory warranty if possible.

Regards,
Don
