Remus diffuser help

Posted in general as well. Had Remus exhaust installed. The tips are too big for my aftermarket diffuser https://nintestore.com/products/nint...es-g30-g31-g38
Stock 540 diffuser also does not work.

Interested in hearing from others with Remus. How did you deal with the diffuser. Is there a specific aftermarket one I should consider. Do I attempt to dremel ( not preferred) but may try if I need a new one.

I spent alot of time tyring to find an aftermarket diffuser that was more aggressive to work with my Remus exhaust.

In the end, the only one that has perfect fitment is the OEM 550i diffuser. It's the one Remus also recommend to use - part number is on their website. I had mine wrapped in Gloss Black to match the rest of the bodykit.

The other option is the M Performance M550i diffuser (similar to the one in your link). This has a matt black top piece with a carbon fibre bottom piece. However I'm not sure if the bottom piece would fit properly due to the size of the Remus tips.

Thanks. Got similar responses on a thread in the general section. I did purchase one that Joebmw33 has on his 550 with dual tip Dinan exhaust. If that doesn't work out I will be going oem.

550i one here too:

The problem with the Remus is the tips are massive! you can replace them with smaller diameter tips which should open more options for diffusers, but it might still be a guessing game to figure it out

Curious which tips you selected and why? Getting ready to order this exhaust and leaning toward the rolled edge tips. Also plan to use the M550i diffuser.

I went with chrome straight cut and had them powder coated satin black. I just liked these better then the other options. Certainly wasn't going with the cf option just too expensive.

Thanks for reply. What type of shop did the powder coating? Also, any drone inside with this exhaust? Mostly concerned with noise at highway cruising speeds.

I just searched for powder coating near me, found a shop near by that turned them around in about a week.
I don't notice much drone in comfort or eco pro at highway speeds. I have CG-VS1 installed so I can close the flaps if needed.
Very loud at cold start , sport is very tolerable and sounds great when getting on it.
Drone is something unique to each individual IMHO. Don't know where you are located but if you can find a member nearby with the Remus that may be a good way to experience it and see if it is for you.

Good info. There is a wheel repair/powder coater nearby that I will check with. As for the drone, I had this same/similar exhaust on my F30 340i for about a year before selling the car 4 years ago. Loved the sound and don't recall much drone, but that car had significantly less sound insulation than the G30 does. This G30 also does more long-distance trips than the F30 did, so drone or lack-of is a bigger concern.

So I installed the OEM M550i diffuser (lower bumper cover?) before my Remus axle-back exhaust is installed tomorrow with quad tips. Below is a comparison of the two diffusers with the stock 540i exhaust where you can see how much larger the opening is for the M550i exhaust.

Also a note on installation of this diffuser...it's very easy and should take no more than 15-30 minutes. You only need to remove 2 screws at the L/R outside bottom edges of the diffuser and use a trim tool to pop out the clips around the perimeter. I've seen videos where people take off the bottom piece under the car where the kick-to-open sensor is, but that is not necessary for the OEM factory M550i diffuser. It may be required for any other diffusers though, but keeping that piece installed is much easier to release the bottom edge clips.
